How are you all liking your XS?

How are you all liking your XS now that you've had it for a bit?
Happy you made that choice? Regrets?

I'm loving my sxs, great screen and camera, the only draw back for me would be the battery life especially if your stuck on UK generic .67 but a simple flash of the firmware solves it :)

I'm pretty happy with my battery life actually, last till the end of the day, camera is amazing

Now that I eventually have an XS with NO yellow tint I am really enjoying it. The thing I like most is that beautiful screen and secondly the look of the device.

I have no regrets, even though there are some other good phones out there.

Yep the camera is great, and the screen is gorgeous, at the moment I'm well happy with the sxs I don't think that there is another device that I would trade it in for at the moment.

And I think once we have ics this will be one great device.

My only real gripe is the locked bootloader as after having my X10 for 2 years and rooting it within days of the devs on xda cracking it I feel like this phone is only reaching half of its true potential... Meh...

Yes, I agree with that. I'd certainly like to root my phone in order to get more control over it.

I'm also disappointed that Sony's customer services lived down to my expectations when dealing with my yellow blotched screen, though this was eventually corrected satisfactorily.

I am able to root my phone, but tbh I don't really feel the need to which can't be said for my old ohinr, the Desire.

The UI is pretty basic, unlike my Desire that had Sense, I don't run out of space for applications unlike my Desire.
Battery lasts me the full day and to the night so all in all, I don't feel the need to root.

For me rooting will let me use the six axis app that will allow me to plug the phone into the TV via hdmi and play some of the great games on this phone, and use things like systyl config and sd booster plus it allows avast security to do all the stuff that protects scum bags so called civil right...

As for me, I would like to be able to do things like
* activate / deactivate GPS via Tasker
* Maximise the amount of data that can be backed up with My Backup Pro
* run an ad blocker
* etc...

... which can all only be done with root.

I'd also like a customised recovery that will enable nandroid backups.

I'm not yet sure whether I'd want to run custom ROMs, though will be interested to see what CM9 offers over and above Sony's ICS offering (when that eventually materialises).

All of the above....,

To be honest my X10 was rooted for 2 years and I've forgotten most of what required root to work but the phone just feels locked up... :(

Does anyone know if I buy this in July whether it would come with ICS pre-installed or whether I'd still have to upgrade the firmware myself?

I'm still enjoying my XS, after a swapping it out (mine had yellow screen tinge + had stopped running) with Sony direct and buying a very nice Imak case I am very happy still, yeah sure the SGS3 is out now but I've not encountered or expect to a app/game that requires that much power, I'm waiting expectantly for ICS, maybe that's what Sony are announcing next week?

After having iPhones for the last 3yrs I moved to the awesome specs of the SXS.
No regrets, love everything!! (After a few days converting to Android OS):D

I've just got my XS to replace my (stolen) Desire S running CM9 (ICS).

Picked this device in part for its distinctive stand out appearance (much the same reason I did for the Tablet S). It does feel s little clunky in the hand, though sure I'll get use to it - but build quality feels way over & above the S3.

Thought I would miss ICS more than I do - though looking forward to getting it back in next few weeks hopefully!

Bit annoyed with the level of un-uninstallable pre-installed apps - managed to get rid of a few of them like the sat nav software - but can't get rid of officesuite viewer - even though i've installed OfficeSuite Pro!

Overall though - very happy so far.

What didn't you like?

The way the camera decides not to focus for no apparent reason. The way the facebook app won't show the picture you click on. The amount of bloatware. The way GoLauncher (to avoid the bloatware) constantly freezes and/or goes back to the home screen for no reason. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten right now.

And like I said, the way Sony doesn't seem even slightly bothered in supporting it. I don't care about the Xperia U/P, I just want ICS for the

Agree with all the above, except the GoLauncher bit. I use GoLauncher, and it behaves perfectly for me. I guess there is some kind of conflict with one of your other apps, or maybe some corrupt data somewhere. Have you tried uninstalling / reinstalling it?

Yep, it only does it when I'm typing a text using GoMessenger. At any other time, it's fine.
