Root [S-OFF] Juopunutbear S-OFF -Beta Release

so we can get s-off even though we have hboot 1.57? is that good? an explanation on hboot, s-off, s-on would be good for people who have never had an htc phone before, Thanks. ive been using android and am pretty adept at it but ive never had an HTC phone before. i read around and saw that supposedly hboot 1.4 is the best, is this true ?

For a sprint evo 3d yes. Not for vm 3d. Hboot is basically the bios like you would have on your computer. S-off is having a 100% unlocked device doing anything you want to it. S-on but HTC unlocked means you can flash boot, system, and recovery partitions only. Everything else is locked. Full s-on means no recovery or custom anything. You might be able to root it but its easier just to HTC unllock to get root

Just as a side note, I do not have this phone but I know HTC phones and the 3d. I currently have a sprint 3d. I am trying to get some funds together to be able to buy this phone though. Then I get to spend real time doing dev work and helping people here

I was able to get s-off today. I had some troubles, but visited the chat room found at the bottom of unlimited.io's page. They were very helpful.

Can you flash kernels with S-on? I thought I heard the dude from htcevohacks.com say there's 3 ways you can do it.

What about ext4 touch recovery with smartflash.. I read you can flash roms with s-on.. is this possible?

EVO 3D CDMA. When I did it everything went as instructed, but at the end the phone would only boot to a juopunutbear logo. Not sure if I did something wrong or it's normal. That is when I visited the chat room on the bottom of unlimited's site and they had me run a bunch of commands to get it going. I should have copied the conversation and pasted it here! If you end up going through the same situation perhaps you could paste it over here for others to use.
It factory reset my phone and wiped my sd card, but I was prepared for that to happen.

Please help. I am having the same issue as Admack. I have tried to Factory reset using the TWRP fastboot, but I keep getting the juopunutbear logo. *Starting to panic* I know I am missing something here, probably simple. Rooted with little problem, this S-off is kicking my butt. Thanks.

Have you gotten the sunshine message when doing the s-off method

Not sure what that is so I will say no. When doing the wire trick, it starts counting. I have gotten to 44/45, then it stops.

Google your problem.. your not bricked.. you just need a command

Or go to the chat room. Try and save the needed commands so you can share them here.
I shouldn't have bothered with s-off. Using 4ext recovery you can flash kernels on phones with s-on.

you didn't get your timing right...close out of it and reopen it and try again. you might have to do this multiple times before you get it right

Thanks guys. I will try the above advice. One other (hopefully minor) issue. I originally swapped sd cards before I started this process. When I was getting the "arrow screen" only, I put my original back in to try to recover from TWRP. That didn't work so I tried the wire trick again, still not successful,*praying*, but it wiped the sd card. will this pose any major issues, assuming I am successful with the s-off?

Good news and bad news. Good... got the timing correct and now have s-off. Bad is I am still at the "arrow screen". Any tips would be appreciated. I am still researching xda, google, etc. but will check back frequently.
