Root Sprint messed up my phone

Ive been having issues where picture mail (MMS) wont download.

Called sprint (BIG MISTAKE!) and they tried to reprogram my phone. After that, It will not update prl or anything and i have no service now.

She said we should do a full reset and I told her i'd call back. I am running myn rom twopointtwo. I have no usb cable to flash back to original sprint ROM. (using a samsung wall charger that is charge only, its NOT a usb cable.)

What do I do? I dont want them to know my phone has a custom ROM.

I believe Myn had the EPST codes and such baked into that rom. You "should" be ok doing the ## codes that the Sprint tech wants you to do.

As far as getting info unto your phone without a usb cord, do you have an sd card reader? You can take the card out of the phone and load it up that way.

We already tried the ## codes and it will not re activate. She told me that it may be a hardware issue and my insurance will replace with (for 100 bucks). im not paying that. My phone was fine (just wasn't able to receive 2 picture mails) until she had me try to reprogram it. I am very upset. I do have an sd card reader.

I am about to call retentions and just cancel the entire account. I am screwed either way. Even if i got them to send me a new phone, they'll charge $100 duductible and then when they get this phone back, they will notice it is rooted with a custom rom, AND the fact that there is a big crack at the bottom of the screen (still works fine though, put a piece of packaging tape over it). So what would you guys suggest I do?

Call retention and explain the situation. Tell them you called to get an issue fixed and they made it worse.

Retentions job is to make you happy. They will bend over backwards for you. This was their fault, let them know that.

Sprint generally does not care that you are rooted. Just hold off on that information. If you have to send the phone in its no big deal, just leave it rooted.

I am being patched thru to retentions now., He said they will take my old phone back and if i returned a non defective device or there are issues with the device i will be billed the full phone price. They will see its rooted i think and know theres a custom rom. what now?

Okay, so retentions re activated it and its working. however, picture mail probably isnt working still. I have had it with sprint. They should have given me some kind of credit due to the fact that i had to go without service. Sprint really does not seem to care. I am a Business customer (It is a business account) and have always paid my bill on time. They really do not value their customers.

hmmm well if it comes down to it...Its fairly easy to unroot so sprint does not know its ever been rooted.

Well, from what the one rep said, if there is any physical damage ad they replace me device, I will be billed full phone price, and since i have a crack in my screen id be screwed. (the screen crack doeset affect functionality at all.

Just talked to ANOTHER rep who was helpful but said its an issue with THEIR NETWORK and no other problems were reported, but she said its an internal issue. She gave me a ticket number and i will have a call back. She also said its an issue with my voice service and i may or may not be cut off.

Bottom line, if they do not fix this, Im really screwed. And it all started because i complained about not getting picture mail. Now all the sudden i have internal voice network issues and etc etc etc. I should have never contacted them.

Dude, stop being so melodramatic. All is not lost.

First of all, buy replacement glass for your phone:
Amazon.com: Touch Screen Digitizer Front Glass for Sprint HTC EVO 4G 4 G EVO 4G A9292 Supersonic ~ Repair Parts Replacement: Cell Phones & Accessories

Next, go to the sprint store and have them put it on for you (or you can do it yourself, it's really easy).

Third, have sprint send you the new phone.

Fourth, unroot your phone and send it back to sprint.

Fifth, Enjoy your new phone.
