Should I report this store?

While shopping, I took a stop at the Metro PCS store in the mall.

I asked if they have an extended battery because I wanted see how big and heavy they actually are.

The guy showed me the battery and the case but they were generic ones. They weren't in a package and the back cover didn't even have Metro PCS logo on it. He took them out from the drawer and showed me.

He asked for $50 something, then check a computer saying he can give it to me for $40 something for discounted place.

I asked if these are Esteem Metro PCS ones and how come not on package. He said these are same ones in the packages on the wall.

I knew generic extended battery + case go for under $10 in ebay and amazon. Also genuine ones have Metroc PCS logo on the back. So I simply said no then worked away.

But thinking about it now, I can't believe he was trying to sell generic ones (and possibly used too) for unreasonable price.

What do you guys think? I am not sure what Metro's policy is on selling stuff but it seems like it is more closer to scamming & cheating instead of trying hard to sell.

Should I at least report this store and the employee?

I dont see any point, you won't achieve anything with reporting the store, and the employee was probably wanting to make an extra income.Good thing he didn't scam you!

Any store that sells those batteries is gonna sell it at that price so you would have to report a lot of stores.

The store has to make a profit off the sale so they're not gonna sell it at the same price as online. Though I don't know what would justify a 400% markup.

This is Metro we are talking about. I havent seen one store that has an employee worth an ish.

I say report their ass but corporate aint gonna care.

all metro pcs stores i was told by metro themself work independently and is in no was affiliated other than the name by metro pcs. ANYONE can be an authorized dealer for metro pcs... this being said they can sell an esteem for 100000$ and metro wont say anything.

Yeah pretty much what the dude above me said. Corporate has no control over the independent stores around the area.

I see what you're saying. He's trying to sell you something that isn't linked to the store and pocket the cash.

You have to find out if the store you went to is corporate or if it's an independent dealer. If it's an independent dealer you're out of luck. Those guys can pretty much do what ever they want and get away with it. They aren't tied to the corporate stores.

I know it sucks man. Sorry buddy.

Actually, dealers cannot markup the prices on the phones unless they are selling you a used one and in that case, I'd report them. As for accessories, whether they say metroPCS on them or not, dealers CAN markup the price. But, definitely NOT the phones.
