Root Advantages of rooting at this point????

so ad free and titanium back are almost worth it alone, but besides the customizations what are the advantages of rooting at this point? are the roms on par w/ ics? or would it be more like taking a step back to lose the bloat? just curious, my phone heats up when streaming videos and everything else runs fine enough so i dont see the need to oc as of yet... just looking for some opinions

Can't oc yet anyway unless you're using a Evo 3D kernel but I read the camera don't work?

The only custom kernel for the Evo V 4g is the AnthraX Kernel for sense 3.6.
Directory listing for www.androidfilehost.com/main/EVO_3D_Developers/.chad.goodman/KERNELS/
(The Kernels were taken off the server, ill have to put up a link on dropbox)

The only thing the kernel breaks is the 3D camera and the 3D. If you view a 3D picture, its gonna mess up your screen until you reboot. If you switch the camera into 3D mode, you'll get a black screen, but you can switch back to 2D camera mode and you'll be fine.
You can overclock to 1.566 GHz, but 1.536 GHz is the max I can get it stable. It supports undervolting, and a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting.

If you don't care about the 3d, flash JMZ's tweaked rom and flash this kernel over it, I get about 3,500 in quadrant benchmarks.

Do you know if there's a more recent version of this kernel? I flashed it and am running at 1.4ghz now..sweet!

I believe that is the most recent version of the kernel. its over a month old. You would think more people would make evo 3D ICS kernels but this is the only one I could find.

In that thread, someone mentioned a release 5 version, and I noticed that the name of the kernel that's linked here is release 1. I found the Release 5 version but am hesitant to flash it since I'm not 100% sure if it's for this Evo.
