LG Connect 4G for $249

Kwala

Newbie
So I just noticed the LG Connect 4G is at $249+Tax on MetroPCs website. I'm a LG Optimus M user but lately I've been feeling the need of a better phone (with more internal memory and faster).

So do you think this phone is at a good price for $249 (around $270 with taxes here in NYC)? Will I feel a huge difference? What are big pros that you see compared to the LG Optimus M? Does this phone and MetroPCs 4G network works well with Skype video call?

Thanks for any info.

You can't use skype over any 4g networkm tango on the other hand, yes. I think that is a excellent price seeing as itsbthe best phone on metro pcs

skype has been talking about merging it in, they're just having issues with the relay.
I would give it two to three months, and they'll have it working more than likely.

I bought it at $249 1.5 weeks ago. I've been using Tango to video with iPhone using daughter. I wasn't aware Skype didn't work for us & she said they don't have it.

what are u guys talking about????
I remember to skype ppl over 4g...
in fact last time i skype to another friend over 4g using my connect and my friend the samsung attain.

i used tango when just got my phone and it was awful!!!

if you have the money i'd say jump on it while its there.. its a $100 instant rebate. no mail in rebate you have to wait 6 months to get. it will be a huge upgrade from the optimus M.

i think its prudent to ask however, what you want to be able to do with your phone.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. The need of a new phone is basically because of running low on internal memory too often... Having to remove applications/cleaning cache etc (I have it rooted with all possible applications on SD)
The phone I think I give it a normal use: Email, Whatsapp, Maps, Evernote, Pictures/Videos sometimes, Music but I have some others Apps that I don't want to get rid off and my Optimus M is just struggeling! (Space and sometimes too slowing down too)

I heard that the battery life is really bad? How bad compared with the Optimus M (people says same thing but for me it's fine). I also heard they share same battery? So I can have my Optimus M battery as a backup?

if you're someone who isnt gonna do a lot of video/audio streaming or gaming i would advise you to go with a a cheaper model but the price for this thing is so low now you should really go for it. it will definitely resolve your capacity issue.

hell, maybe you'll start streaming and gaming now that you'll have the capability, ha.

Right! I've tried couple of games on my phone, but I end up removing them when I run low on internal memory.. and I want to be able to use Skype as video calls sometimes but I just can't on my phone!

So yeah I might start using better stuff with that phone. I think I'll get it then, thanks to the guy of the Amazon link!

Any info about the battery compared to the Optimus M? and if they share the same battery?

Thanks

I actually have the PDF for the $50 mail in rebate that Metro had available in May. The rebate states it'll be honored for Connect purchases made through June 30, but I'm sure Metro will give crap. If anyone wants to give it a shot, feel free to message me and I'll email it to you.

I bought the phone! After some time trying to decide.. -The link from Amazon actually was not tax-free. It added the Taxes at moment of checkout- I went to a MetroPCs store to get it right away, but they wanted to charge me $15 for the upgrade, they didn't want to sell just the phone. So I got back home and checked MetroPCs website they still added the taxes but the shipping was free with Fedex 2 days service.

Well I have had the Samsung Galaxy Indulge 4G since it first came out. It worked fine for me until I started to experience what, lag, on my phone. I kept doing a factory restore until I realized it had nothing to do with the phone and applications I installed but the stuff that it came with. Then I learned about rooting my phone and it has lasted since Janurary 2011 till about today. The problem that I am getting is the display has been periodically "dimming out" permenantly and I can see LCD damage on the phone.
Well time for a new phone and I have been scoping out the LG Connect 4G for a while now. I might miss the slide out keyboard but this phone looks awesome! (not to mention I paid 400$ for the indulge and this is 249!)

Yeah, my LG Optimus M (My first and only Android so far) was having a lot of issues at the beginning... Until I rooted it. It got MUCH better. So after trying out the phone for a little bit, that's what I'll do. On the LG Optimus M, rooting gave me more battery life, less lag (meaning faster phone; removing all MetroPCs crap), less random restarts and access to all those good applications that require root (i.e ES File Explorer, Titanium Backup). Much more control over my phone.

Fedex says I'll get it by Tuesday 19th :)

last night i was messing around with my samsung phone and tried to see about putting ubuntu on my phone so i can get some of my desktop apps on the go. besides that i was curious if someone got the loop device thing to work.

I bought mine for almost $300 at Metro. It was a good deal but I wish Metro had more coverage...

That's exactly what I'd like!!! Last Saturday I went just 2 hours away from NYC to a place called Island Pond (beautiful btw!) and I didn't have signal!

Yeah chances are Metro does not cover that area. Check the coverage map. I bet Island Pond is a future-expansion.

I have a friend that works for Metro and he told me to stick with Metro b/c they are expanding their coverage (especially their 4g).
