what is wrong with face book app

for the last 2 weeks 80% of the time i try to get on facebook it wont open and says signal lost or no signal/ somthing like that. Even when i have full 4g or 3g it doesnt matter. I have to reboot my phone for it to open. Everything else always works, internet, etc. does anyone else have this issue, what needs to be fixed?
 
Two things ...

I would first try a soft reset (AKA battery pull) by holding down Volume Up/Volume Down Power until a menu appears and then disappears.

You could try going to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All / Facebook and select Clear data. It MIGHT help. There are obvious implications from doing this ... so make sure you really want to do it.

fwiw I stopped using the official FB app a few months ago. Best thing i ever did. I use FriendCaster now and i love it. Give it a shot.

One huge thing i liked about it was being able to upload photos to specific albums. The official FB doesn't allow you to do that.

just tried this..... so far its looking like it worked!
 
... that being the case ... clearing the data may solve the problem.

I do software ... I never do Facebook ... I can not guarantee that clearing the data will fix it ... it makes sense to me that it would since it was not cleared with the install.

Please let me know what happens.

i keep opening it and it is working flawlessly now. even loads the pics faster. thanks alot!!!
 
Great.

A lot of social people are staying away from the native apps on the Android and are instead using the apps available through the browser.

The reason is that the android apps use the Social Location app in the background and there is apparently no way to turn it off. It uses GPS. It uses GPS a lot. This eats the battery. It is reported to be the most abusive battery user on the Android.

If you are into social apps and are getting lousy battery life ... this is where to look.

I gave up on the app a week or two ago. I now access facebook from the Dolphin browser. works pretty well and FAST.
