Bill I sent you a PM but it doesn't show up in my sent box so I don't know if you actually got it

Don't worry. I'm pretty certain we'll have some official information within the next few days anyway. In the meantime, I really appreciate your input.

In the specs that I posted yesterday at the top of this thread, does anything stand out as blatantly wrong?

Video: MPG4 720p Recording (I can't confirm this, but I would suspect at least 720p is true given another aspect of the phone).
OS: Android 2.1 initially, then updated to Android 3.0 (Nothing was there about 3.0, but 2.1 is correct)

It's missing a few minor things, but other than that solid stuff.

Thanks, Ouhei. I know the 1GHz Snapdragon chip is capable of 720p, but when I visited the Qualcomm website, it looked like the 1.5GHz dual core chip is required for 1080p. It's highly unlikely that we'll see any phone using that chip until the end of the year - at least. At this point, I would bet that it will be well into next year before we see a phone or slate with that chip.

Edit: You don't think it will have HDMI for outputting 720p video, do you?

Maybe that's what's blocked out in this picture of the phone on the right?

Or TFT Active Matrix?

I really think it will be OLED, like the iPhone. No matter what it is, I still want this phone.

Maybe it is
@ouhei,

AMOLED or OLED?

How much on board storage?
OLED I believe, what I've seen didn't specify storage.

There are a lot of reports out today about the Supersonic showing up in Sprint's inventory and there's a lot of buzz about the phone getting demoed by Dan Hesse next week.

The rumors floating around all seem to indicate that this phone will be released a lot sooner than what we think, and that's great as far as I'm concerned. The only problem is we don't know the source of those rumors. If it's a forum like this one, then well... we'll have to wait and see. I don't think we should get too excited about it until something official is said next week.

There's also a lot of rumors about the HTC Incredible being released on Verizon in the next couple of weeks, so maybe that and CTIA are what's fueling speculation about the Supersonic being released sooner than expected.

It seems very likely that we should start getting some solid information real soon.

I only guessed front camera because HTC used to put them on a lot of their Euro PPC phones but we never got them in the states as the networks couldn't really handle the traffic. Also I keep reading about how there are going to be a few "4G widgets" to take advantage of new features. Honestly video calling is the only thing I can think of that would take advantage of that. Too bad I don't know anyone who is getting one besides myself :/ I was gonna splurge and buy mine at launch and then buy my girlfriend a Legend in June when our account is actually due for yearly upgrades. Front cam would tempt me to buy her a Supersonic but I'm afraid to after seeing her toss her Pre into her bag all the time with no case and drop it on the ground :X That thing has taken a beating in the 9 months since I bought it while mine has barely a scratch. Maybe I will make her pay for this one if she wants it. Not trying to buy another $600 device that gets tossed around with keys and makeup and stuff in a handbag.

Well, I would suspect that we will get a full, solid, finalized spec sheet. But, I would think that Sprint would get this out ASAP, with alot of people saying they would switch to Sprint for this phone. It would help with the direct competition from Verizon and their Incredible.

You know, if you look at the leaked video you can see the small round ridge at the top of the phone where the 3.5mm headphone jack will go. Assuming no major redesigns, look at the wide "bump" along the bottom here. It makes me thing there could be more than a MicroUSB jack down there for charging.

Yeah, that very much looks like an HDMI cable to me (on the black phone above) and if it is, that's a strong indication that this phone has 720p.

Thanks Covert for setting the record straight.

I updated the first post in this thread yesterday. It has a spec sheet and Ouhei pretty much confirmed everything except for the 720p, but that being said, we're speculating now whether that's a HDMI port shown in the black phone above. If it is (and I think it is), it would be a pretty strong indication that the phone has 720p.

BTW, the spec sheet I mentioned shows 1024 MB of ROM.

I don't see the benefit of HDMI out on a phone, can some one enlighten me?

I thought maybe streaming movies to your TV from online, but there are much better options like a networked media tank, HTPC, or DVR. Then what if you need to take a phone call or answer a text? Get up and go look at your phone?

Then I thought maybe just to quickly look at your 720p videos w/ family. But it'd be much more streamlined to upload to youtube and then share. Plus you would think Google would want to incorporate a streamlined youtube upload since they own youtube of course and youtube does HD video.

Can't think of anything else.

They have Wimax in "Stiller" country? :D

Honestly from what I hear it never really took off even where they had it. I dunno if the devices weren't up to it or people just found it awkward to hold their phones up to speak face to face. Honestly as far as I am concerned it is almost bordering on gimmicky but it would still be fun I think.

@ neodorian,

Someone on another thread in this subforum said, that clearwire is looking to hire people in Pittsburgh. So......maybe, just maybe, I'll get to see the light.

front facing camera...

and btw, if you turn out to be "newsradio862"s "new" profile ill hunt you down and kill you, just a fare warning.. if not welcome friend :)
on this note, (lol i can totally understand your point of view and i totally agree with billmeds' response, but just want to add, that I do not want a repeat of what happened in another forum where the thread got out of hand with a member posting information that got the rest all riled up for no reason only to bail out at the last minute. It resulted in deleting countless posts. it won't help the members and certainly will clutter up the thread with un-needed posting. Hopefully that won't be the case here.

I've suggested to billsmed to make, edit or merge these threads to make an official supersonic thread, once he decides i will sticky the thread.

As for this comment...

Something tells me having a hdmi or mini-hdmi port on the phone would probably help it hook it up to a tv/monitor like a projector. But maybe thats me wishful thinking. :D

btw, I too have a Sprint Hero and have no complaints with it, its the best phone I ever had, but the Supersonic will be the phone it will replace once it comes out.

Eventually I will replace the Supersonic with the (full keyboard/world phone, 4G) Voyager, which would be the update to the Supersonic in 2011. **

TS out

**This is my pure speculation/opnion and not fact.

Welcome to the Supersonic forum, senormatt and thank you for your input. When I was thinking HDMI, I was thinking of something different than YouTube. I'd love to be able to plug the phone into my DVD recorder through the HDMI port to record the movie on disk.

I don't think Google or HTC have any interest in anything having to do with physical media. Everything in the "cloud" is the idea.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Not sure why the Supersonic has so many less fans than the Incredible. Is it something with Verizon vs. Sprint users? The biggest Incredible thread has 9,400 replies to the Supersonic's 131.

Need some Supersonic love in here... man can't wait to see how everything plays out next week.

I googled HDMI on phones and found this recent article:

The HDMI Consortium is about to announce a mini HDMI connector for the Apple iPhone which allow the iPhoner to run full HD content from the Apple iPhone to a screen by mini HDMI cable. The next step would be to take HDMI to the Apple iPhone and iPods in the form of a mini HDMI cable which means delivering high quality audio and video content to a screen.

That doesn't mean the Supersonic should have this feature, I'm just saying it might.

I agree twospirits. I've seen something similar happen on Crackberry and things got pretty...tense. I am hoping for an 8 MP camera and front facing camera but I'm not getting my hopes up too much just in case. We'll know for sure next week (I can't believe I'm saying that, it always seemed like the Supersonic was such a distant commodity).

VZW has a bigger customer base and know how to generate hype through their marketing. They're a fine company but Sprint is equally good in my opinion and must more affordable which seals the deal for me. We'll be getting more activity here soon ;) the calm before the storm.

Might be the first time in my whole life I'll ever say this:

I WISH THIS WEEKEND GOES BY FAST! I CAN'T WAIT TILL NEXT WEEK!!

Yeah I'll never say that again in any other context :)
