Root Luvin' my rooted Prevail but want a different launcher

So I used the rooting for dummies tut and rooted my Prevail and I luv it so far. However I would like a different launcher that will allow me to install different themes and xperia seems to be lacking in that area. So my question is can I just install another launcher and just leave Xperia on there?:confused:
 
I've been using ADW Ex from the Market and i love it!! There are all kinds of themes out there for it. The EX is the paid version but they also have a free one. It's called ADW.
 
I use ftl launcher all you have to do is download the launcher that you want. then use something like titanium backup and freeze the 1 that you do not want or make a backup of the 1 that you don't want and uninstall it. you can always re install it later if you really wanted it back. the reason being if you have 2 or more launchers everytime you restart your phone or do something it's always gonna ask which 1 you want to use and gets to be a pain.
 
It is a pain but you can click on the "use this from now on" option to make the selection stick. If you need to unstick it you can uninstall the program/launcher or if you need to leave it on your phone but just try the other for a bit you can go into Settings> Applications and pick out the launcher and select to "delete defaults". Once again every time you touch the home button the phone will start asking which one you want to use...

I would suggest the popular Go Launcher because its free and has a ton of free themes. Thats what I started with. Now Im using ADW Ex and love it for the customizing you can do. I just wish there were more free themes. But to the OP, download both, try them out, and decide which you like. Its like finding the Rom that best suits you. Its what you like that really matters.

Yeah that works really good but easier way is with titanium backup just freeze or unfreeze anything that you want to use or you don't want use

I personally HATE Go Launcher with this phone... It's too resource hungry... Imho adw is just as customizable, and FAR lighter. And you can take a theme for any launcher and copy/paste the drawables into the theme.apk that goes with your launcher. Might need to be renamed in some cases though (or extract the drawables, and use the icons individually). When i was last running cm7, i used a Go theme that i converted to adw. :)
 
thats is so true about launchers, themes or anything, some are hungry and may even mess with your system and then that is when people start saying this and that are happening and forcloses, ect...

Im not a fan of the Go Launcher these days, but its all about finding playing around with stuff and experiencing things on your own. Critics said Battleship sucked. I went to see it, and I thought it kicked ass. Its got lots of explosions, aliens in giant robotic suits, and a story you can follow. Its a total dude movie. If I would of listened to what everyone else thought, I would of missed a great movie.

And I did state that I now use ADW Ex, and I love how much customizing you can do with it. I also stated to try them and see what you like. I dont think thats any reason to shoot down my post and say you hate Go. And as far as being resource hungry, isnt that why many of us have SSM and swap working on our phones? A lot of things are resource hungry without our Prevails being customized. Just sayin..............:rolleyes:
 
You can use your file explorer in ctmod then go to its settings and allow root explorer.
This way you can delete xperia and have a few mb to work with. For more apps.
I personally,like nemus.
Feels stable but its got a lag of 3 seconds

I wasn't bashing your post... Sry if it seemed that way. Just sharing my opinion... And my opinion is that the go products, with our phone's limited processor, take too much of the precious resources and can cause lag. In much the same way, i absolutely LOVE sbp shell 3d, but with this phone, it's no good... lags and makes the phone worse than stock... These are just opinions though.

I'm sry if you feel as if my opinion was directed at you. I just feel very strongly about Go Launcher...
 
I agree wet, after messing with a quite a few launchers, Im all about ADW Ex.

Now if I can only get rid of the super-bloated GoSMS. Is Handcent the way to go, or is there another good SMS app to try?

I like Handcent. Been using it for about 8 months now.:D
 
well not that I carry any weight around here but I'm using adw (i removed the stock launcher) I was using zeam and can't remember for the life of me why I changed. I'm also using handcent (which replaced my stock sms) .I tried lightning but got tired of having to download the plugin to change my settings (keeping the plug in kinda fouls up one of the selling points of lightning i.e.small size) anyway just one more opinion
 
I was just playing around and found out in the ftl launcher that in the settings it has an option to use adw and most of those others launcher themes
 
I am using ADW on the Mokee rom. I tried GO, which is my favorite, but it makes the phone lag. ADW came with the Mokee rom so I'm just using that and the phone is snappier using ADW
