Root Can i keep all my apps and settings while JUST rooting my Evo?

I really just want to root the phone and not install any roms yet. Im rooting mainly for titanium back up or to make nandroid backups. So i was wondering if it was possible just to root and keep all my apps and setting os i can make backups? Any help will be appreciated!
 
To attain root, you have to unlock your bootloader. When you unlock your bootloader, it will wipe out your data before you can make a nandroid so, no.

Crap :/ I hate having to lose everything and re download :/ I know this is hard to say but will there ever be a way to install a recovory or root without having to wipe your phone?

Yeah. If you need a video, search YouTube for "root evo 3D zedomax" and watch the video zedomax made 3 months ago. Be sure to flash the superuser in the newbie thread.
