Is there a point for installing all music, video, etc on the microSD ?

Does it help the phone speed if you leave most of the internal memory free (only using it for apps) and use the external card for all your files?

or is it just for more file storage ?

And is it normal ? my S3 have 11.35GB available.

Where are the other 5GB gone ?

Same for Ram, it says 631MB/780MB, Does that mean i am using 631MB Ram ? Although all Apps were closed.

Thanks for answering.

If you have videos, music, etc on the SD card, it's kind of safer. If the phone is down, or if you want to reset it, it will wipe out everything on your phone memory. The SD card, though, won't be touched (unless you choose to format it).

11GB is the amount of space you can use on your phone, the rest of it is used by the system. The ram is 780MB, of which, basing on what you wrote, 631MB is being currently used.

Everything you're describing is normal.

Main reason to move music and suchlike to the external card is that it leaves the whole internal space available for app installation (if you play games then it doesn't take long to fill the 11GB space - Nova 3 install is 1700MB, Max Payne ~1300 etc).

Let's say i filled up the 11GB on the phone, Will the performance of the phone will be slowdown ? or is it the same if i put an microSD ?

You may experience slow downs once you get under 100MB. I believe the phone will also annoy you with "low storage" alarms at that point, too.

Do you have to leave your internal space blank? No. But I plan to leave 1-2 GB on it free on my 16 GB device. I also have a 32 GB Class 10 microSD card, so I will use that for storage.

on my previous htc desire it would give me constant reminders about low storage space if the memory went under 15MB and some apps wouldnt work actually. Google talk would not log in and htc peep (twitter app) would not load new tweets. Some other ones would not refresh either i think

Micro SD or Micro Secure Digital cards are used for extra storage, meaning you can your files there. Since it is extra storage, you can use it as backup storage to keep it safe in case your phone had problems. so you have a separate location just for your photos and music.

as NZtechfreak said, I agree with this.

I put those files on an sd card because if I want to move from phone to phone I can easily take out the card and swap it into the new one rather than having to hook it up to a computer and save everything there. Plus gives you more space for apps on the phone.
