Root need help to root

i want to root my prevail, I was looking at the one click root but from what I heard it is out of date and no longer working. All the info I have found are dead ends because they are out of date. So I need a current guide for android version 2.3.6 because the main thing i need it for is link2sd which needs root.
 
The thread i linked has everything you need. The fe16 is the newest version. if I'm not mistaken, the drivers are in the zip (as well as Odin and everything else you will need). Read the Opening Post and watch the video. It's super easy.
 
there is no link to samsung drivers and there is a link for prevail_odin_packer_win3.0.zip which is "Odin Backup Creator for the Samsung prevail" which launched a cmd.exe window and is a .bat file to start. no the program in the Video. Also no links on the video.

OP (first post in a thread) first few posts and last few pages of posts are where i always start when trying to gather up info. Also the 'search this forum' button will always yield good results. :)

sry for the trouble if on top said Odin and Drivers in firmware zip I would know since there was nothing like that. My somewhat literal mindedness because of my aspergers syndrome didn't see a notice like that so I didn't know i thought it was just the firmware.
