Root Rom choices

So far, I have seen only cyanogen mod, phire mod and miui for this device. Are there no other devs producing roms for the NC?

There may not be a lot of devs or roms but they are still busy. It's still an active dev community for an older tablet that wasn't (officially) a tablet to begin with. :D

I'm running Eyeballer's unofficial CM9 with openGL 4-18 and it's actually pretty good.

I've been wondering what happened to the StormDroid Nook ROM.

Does this rom run netflix correctly?
What problems does it have?
Is it ready to be a daily driver?
Maybe should consider getting another sd card to install an ics ROM. On. What about time Warner Cable streaming? Chrome browser Google wallet?

None of the ICS roms can run Netflix yet. Any issues are listed in the XDA thread of the rom

None of the ics roms appear to be able to connect to Wi-Fi either for some reason. Is there something I'm missing?

Is your date/time correct in Settings?

Did you get the prompt at first start to pick a wifi?

I can't believe none of them work for you. Has to be something on your end. Going to need a lot more info... rom type and version, what you tried, etc.

Well, mayhap not a ton of choices, but definitely some quality ones. I've been working on a couple of themes for the nook but I don't know how interested people will be in custom themes. I know alot of us run custom themes on our phones, but there doesn't seem to be any for the nook.

I will start uploading them as I finish them/triple test for bugs, in the next couple days.

For the people that don't know, themes are different from roms, they change the look of the phone/tablet, not the functionality so much. Also, most of you are probably familiar with theme Chooser if you use cyanogen. Custom themes change the look like it does, only it changes much more, such as notification background, system dialog box colors, system button colors, etc.

... and make sure you make a backup in recovery before you install that theme, just in case it causes issues or you don't like it. :D

Well you wouldn't think I'd put them up for use and not give any thought to caution, would ya colchiro :p That could be disastrous!

When they are uploaded I will definitely give detailed instructions, and you are certainly right, I backup will be wanted in case you end up not liking the new look. (But of course you will!)

No, I'm talking any theme. :D

You might have something that's got a lot of red in it and I might not like red, but didn't realize it until I installed it.

My favorite colors are lots of black with ICS blue... boring, 'eh?

No, not really boring, I like it myself. I've done red/black, blue/black, cyan, and orange. I'm porting all of them to the nook and then ill take some requests :D

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow, my Wi-Fi issue was solved by setting up and using a different router. I couldn't connect to my d-link, but happened to have ordered new linksys. When I set it up the other day...problem solved. Dunno what the difference is though.

Edit: aokp is running better for me than any other ICS Roms...maybe It's the kernel.

CM9 on my wife's NC was too slow and laggy, so I restored a Mirage (CM7.2) backup from June and updated it to the latest weekly build, but had no wifi. Tried everything, but couldn't get it to work so wiped caches and flashed the rom again and it works perfectly and is much faster.

I love AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus phone. There's a AOKP JB preview now that I'm tempted to flash, but maybe I'll wait for the next build. The JB rom I have now is working very nice, but I miss all of the customization (not that the AOKP preview has them either). BTW, AOKP is in the top two most popular roms for the GN. :D

Once Solomon reaches a milestone e for JB, I'll probably flash it. Right now, my Gnex is on xenon9.0. I haven't touched my nook in weeks though.lol
