Short Stay

When I ordered my LG Spectrum off ebay in February, I did so under the assumption that I'd be using it for maybe a year before finally using my upgrade. Verizon threw a wrench into that plan by announcing their new data plans.

Today I ordered a pebble blue 32 GB Samsung Galaxy S III so I could lock in my unlimited data plan for at least the next two years. I'm figuring that after June 28th I should be able to sell this Spectrum for enough to cover the cost of the SGS3, especially considering it's got two cases and eight screen protectors.

So, my stay here will be much shorter than planned. But I do appreciate all the help and camaraderie. Thanks, guys.

I'll still hang out on the Spectrum forums until I'm up to speed on the new phone.

I think this will be the case with a lot of folks, I've been going month to month with Verizon for 3 years, ever since my LG dare

I'll miss you the most, Isaiah. Maybe I'll PM you a few times here and there just to stay in touch... :-)

I'm shocked a lot of people really want to switch. Being on stock V6 with all the crap frozen, I never get reboots, the phone has decent battery life, and an amazing display. ICS is around the corner whether people want to believe it or not, and it'll have a GSM world antannae. That alone is awesome. Maybe I'm just a sucker, but how much more do you NEED in a phone? The only thing that sucks is the Slacker app, but that's any android... :) I had my friend whos got the razer max say he liked my phone better, except the amazing battery life on his. But it is to each their own!

My move was not a condemnation of the Spectrum, it was an economic decision. I'd rather pay a subsidized price now to grandfather in my unlimited data than buy another phone off ebay or some such a year or two down the road. $250 now for a brand new 32 GB pebble blue Samsung Galaxy S III seems a better deal than $250 sometime in the next two years for some used phone.

Sure, I like the Spectrum. But if I can get a brand new phone and probably sell my Spectrum to cover the cost, I'm going to do it. This is more of a CYA move than anything...

not a bad move IMO. I dont think you will get $250 for your used spectrum tho, $150 - $200 at best. ;)

I love my Spectrum. Depending on whats out when im eligable for an upgrade, i probably wont upgrade immediately.
I'm ambivalent about it. There's NO love for the Verizon LG phones (NitroHD or Spectrum) other than stock mods and it's buggy as shit, compared to other phones. I may end up buying a different phone @ full price to get something more 'fun'. Not sure about the new Samsung, though.

I did the exact same thing. I bought a used Spec maybe 3 weeks ago for $200, since I thought there was no way the GS3 would be coming out before shared data plans. Now that I can preorder and keep unlimited data, I went for it. Should have insane aftermarket support, both in accessories (not that important to me) and software (important to me). Will be my first Samsung galaxy phone, hope it's not as bad as the Nexus was made out to be...

Either of you willing to wait for compensation - we've started a collection for porting MIUI it would help to get a discount on device.
I am giving you this link - donation for weblexa for more information.
Thanks for your time and hanging here with Spectrum forum.

if we want more dev support the bottom line is that we will have to donate to them to get a device. wouldn't it be nice to have like 5 or 6 roms? I know I would love it but in order for that to happen we need to get specs in the hands of the devs as lg in general isn't as popular as Motorola or Samsung or HTC. it's a shame because the hardware of the spec is comparable to most other higher end current phones, it's up to us as to the amount of development we have.

Frankly, I just graduated college and can barely afford my cell phone plan... I can't donate to get some devs on board. It's a shame we don't have devs that chose this phone, like other phones/devs.

Ya I agree with ya there Mr.B! I guess maybe what I should have said, is for those of us WHO CAN afford to donate, it is greatly appreciated and benefits all of us regardless of who the dev is.
