Help ICS and GPS

I seem to have lost my ability to use GPS on my N7000 since upgrading to ICS.

I have tried several different apps including Google Navigation. GPS is on, but it is failing to lock onto satellites.

Anyone else having this issue & any ideas how to fix it?

Not much help, I know, but this is from inside the living room at home just now:

I read some people saying that they lost GPS functionality until they reboot the phone several times. This makes no sense to me, but you may want to give it a try since it can't hurt.

Hope this helps...

I don't seem to have that issue. I had it maybe once while I was driving really far north in Canada, but it seems to work at my parent's house in my old bed room (I live downtown where it's pretty congested, but my parents live north of the city).

Hallo,
I have exactly the same problem.
Gingerbreat worked! now with ics: the gps isn't working.

Hi,

First time on these forums ... I also have the issue with ICS and my GPS not working. I already spent several hours digging the internet for no solution.

I tried several applications to get a "faster fix" with no change.

The symptom with Google Map or GPS Test is the GPS notification raised for about 1 second, then off for a few seconds, then on again ...
GPS Test is able to download AGPS fix with no error.

I tried to get the system logs and I am a bit stunned with this message :
07-10 00:58:55.485 E/gpsd ( 6311): ASSERT: ASSERT(!"GL_STOP_HW_PANIC") failed in /tmp/11617007/proprietary/deliverables/android/gps_interface/../gpsd/common/GlGpsdInterface.cpp:774

I put more of the log as an attachment.

Yeah, I'm hit too. I'm rooted. After the official ICS stock OTA my GPS has been terrible. Been lookin everywhere for a fix.

I actually started experiencing the same problem BEFORE I upgraded to ICS. It was very odd. GPS worked fine, then it stopped working fine. Not really sure what I changed, but could never get it back to initial performance.

I was hoping ICS update would fix the problem - Nope, still the same issue. With GPS Test, I have many satellites in view, but 0 in use. It only works when it is in the open for an extended period of time.

Same here with the 9+ sats in view, and 0 in use. After a while outside it will slowly come to life. I have a Razr Maxx, but apparently it's beyond device.

Now when indoors I have to have WiFi enabled to get a fix when it used to work perfectly without WiFi.

Hi guys, have you found the solution to this problem?

On my Galaxy Note after upgrade to ics the "gps" seem don't work.

Please is someone have found a solution to post here.

I have already made the downgrade to gb and hard restet hundreds times

I had this problem where my GPS lock was sooo slow. Rebooting did not fix the problem. However, I tried a full power down / remove battery and powered up and my GPS locked very shortly.

hi folks .....
everyone whose GPS isnt working , have u upgraded to ICS urself?

well, iv read a lot in the forum + my personal experience is that whenever we try to upgrade the software something always gets screwed up....why i dont know!!! (

my experience and the service center engineers view is that not to upgrade or try to screw up ur phone software urself....
check this link of mine-- http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note/632042-warning-do-not-update-firmware-through-kies.html

my suggestion would be--------- take it to the samsung service center and let them load it for u. a drive there wud hv saved u the headache its causing u now.

hope u get it solved and enjoy the phone :)
