Wildfire S won't switch on after new digitizer installed

Hi, I've got a slightly odd problem with the power on my Wildfire S.

I've replaced the smashed digitizer with a new one, but now I cannot power back on. The battery is good, and charges whilst in the phone, but I cannot get it to power up.

However, the alarm clock is set, and the phone powers up when the alarm goes off. I cannot switch the alarm off as the touch screen isn't working and I cannot slide the dismiss/snooze buttons as usual. the only way to stop it is to remove the battery - but then the phone won't go back on when I but the battery back in.

I thought maybe the opwer button wasn't put in right when i put the phone back to goether, but I've taken it apart a few times and it all seems OK.

have i missed something, or is the phone dead?
Is there a software route to fix this?
And once it does power back on, why won;t the screen work?

Update:

the phone switched itself on again when the alarm went off this morning.

Now it's on, all I have is a picture of the phone with a red triangle with an exclamation mark in.

Any ideas? What should I try next?

Try and turn your phone on HBOOT.
Switch the phone off, take the battery out and put it back in. Then press and hold power and volume down buttons.
If that works, maybe you install your rom again (But you will lose everything so if you can take a backup, do it)

ok I just replaced my digitizer and my phone powers on and everythings great....but it still doesnt read a finger thumb my nose anything..:( so ya im in the process of figuring that issue out but to the alarm guy/girl..w/e im thinking the issue might be either you broke the ribbon attached to the button.. or it came unplugged.. only 2 options other than the motherboard is bad..
btw i already tried factory reset and still no luck..

I have the same issue: replaced digitizer and phone gone dead...
Have you ever found a way to make it work again?
