Root [International] [XXALE8] Omega ROM

I've been running this for a day and a bit and i can't really say a bad thing about it. The first thing you'll notice is it looks exactly the same as stock just with a green circle battery mod, which is exactly what it is at the moment. It has the same stability, speed and battery life as stock but I'm intrigued by the Omega files app. For any gs2 converts it's like checkrom kitchen but as it's a new ROM there's not much in there at the moment, but watch this space. I'll give one of the kernels a try tomorrow and see what it can do. So check out one of the kernel threads for my rather crap reviews.
 
This rom seems to have broken my GPS. While I was on stock my phone obtained GPS fix in about 4 seconds. Now I'm still waiting after a minute. :(

Are there any setting I need to make, to fix this?



EDIT: I'm on 5.1 - I will update to 5.2 and see if it fixes it.

I got the 5.2 version last night and everything seems to be working fine including GPS. So you might want to update it.

I've now tried 5.2 and it was still taking about a minute to lock.

I've restored my nandroid backup of rooted stock and... 3-4 seconds for a lock. I don't know why other people are getting fast lock on omega, but I'm not. I want to get to the bottom of it, but I hate waiting for GPS to lock, so I'm tempted to stay with stock for the time-being.

The thing is, on the XDA forum the dev is touting super-fast GPS locking, but I'm just not seeing it.

Hmm, not sure. I just tried it again now at work and it's pretty quick. Perhaps you can post over there in the XDA forums for assistance.
 
Installed the Omega 6 rom yesterday, used remove bloatware option, brilliant, installation is very customisable, my first S3 rom ;)
 
I 'fixed' it by doing another wipe and flashing 5.2

Super fast locking again. Neat. :D

May be time for version 6.0...
