Any good for a girl?

Hi All,

My fiancee and I both have HTC Incredibles. I am constantly flashing new ROMs on my device and it operates (and looks) like a champ. Her's has a solid ROM installed forever ago and looks like it's been beaten to holy hell.

She is still a fan of Android but has fingers like butter so the thought crossed my mind of the Commander. After a little digging I see that dev support for this thing is nearly nonexistant (not surprising) and root appears to be basically unachievable.

This phone is dirt cheap with an upgrade. Will your typical facebook loving, food tweeting, angry-bird playing female enjoy it or does it suck?
 
I'd say your best bet would be to look into a newer device and slap an Otterbox on it or some other high quality case. The Razr, Rezound and Nexus all have pretty good support going for it (the latter, obviously the best).
 
My friends wife has it and loves it. She got it mainly because they have young kids that dont understand that phones aren't indestructible but over all she likes it. Just depends if she wants the latest and greatest or performance close to the incredible but better battery life.

This statement interests me the most. She could care less about the latest and greatest as long as the phone is stable and isn't full of bugs. I think most all the Android phones now run all the mainstream apps so that would be more than sufficient.

However, the otterbox case idea is a good one too. I'll take her to the store and she is she even likes the Commander's looks. If not, otterbox FTW!

Mine is pretty stable. It can lag at times but no where near what my original droid did. Only thing that I have seen just not work at all is the battery usage it just splits 50/50 like described in another thread. Overall I love my phone. Moderate/light use for me I get close to 36 hours easy. Heavy use I still last around 8-9 hours. Been in water dropped plenty of times and still going strong.
 
My wife just bought a Commando not too long ago and she loves it. She is very rough on phones and normally after a few months, her phone looks like they have been through hell.

Now on the other hand the otterbox was mentioned. Now my sister just weeks ago bought a RAZR. She put the thing into an otterbox (not sure which one) but her kids were playing with the phone and dropped it, breaking the front display leaving her to pay another $100 for an insurance replacement. I wouldn’t put too much stock in the otterbox if you know she would be rough on the phone.

If the latest and greatest is not important, and you know she is rough on phones the Commando will be a good choice. It’s not the best phone in the lineup, (and never has been), but it is rugged! It may be a little slow, but it is stable and not buggy.
 
I figured I should at least come back an update this post. The other day we picked up two Galaxy Nexuses. There is currently a horrible bug with the connectivity but I rooted both of them and threw AOKP Milestone 5 on them both. Took a total of about 30 minutes for both phones.

She is absolutely loving the Nexus so I'm gonna order her the Otterbox Defender case and she'll be all set!

The otterbox defender case kinda brings down the glamour of the display. I'm switching to a different case with a nice screen protector separate.

Try AOKP build 38 with leankernel. Smooth as silk!

Have a friend who uses one on his Nexus and loves it. I hate cases so I don't use one. Head on over to our place and say hi! :)
