Hi everyone! I just got the Skyrocket and so I far love it! No complaints yet. I am not new to Android, but I have never used custom roms such as Cyanogen. I've searched for hours looking for a detailed explanation on how to use roms, but I've come up empty handed and confused. I've read that I need to back up my efs folder so I downloaded efs pro, but it seems to freeze in windows 7. I also already have CWM and Rom Manager. What do I need to do next? I apologize ahead of time if I missed a forum on this.
Ok, I'm assuming you're already rooted with superuser access since you say you have CWM.
There is no need to back up EFS folder, just go and download Titanium Backup (free version is fine), and perform a backup. Make sure to change the backup location to your external SD card(as with most roms, it requires you format your internal). Make sure to backup your contacts with Google as well.
Once backed up, just download the rom that you like, and place it on your EXTERNAL SD CARD. Make sure to download any updates and misc tweaks(if available) that you will like as well for that rom.
Boot into CWM, follow the steps of the rom you are choosing to install(usually format system, wipe cache, advance-wipe dalvik). Once you do that, go to install from zip, choose zip, install the rom. Let it do its thing. Once done, reboot phone - wait about 5 min or so to let the cache settle down, install Busy Box, then install Rom Manager(if the rom doesn't already include it) and run fix permissions. ***If your ROM has additional tweaks/updates, boot back into CWM and install those(no need to wipe cashe/dalvik on updates tweaks). If it was an update to the rom, you may want to reinstall Busy Box and run fix permisions again. Now, reboot, then install Titanium Backup and restore all apps/data.
NOW, if you are NOT rooted/superuser you may want to take a look at this thread

Example of a ROM that has a Base, along with updates and tweaks(if you decide to use this rom, first do the steps in the post above to get on ICS)
