Help unlock screen / lock button q

Arman T

Hi, just got the One S last week and absolutely love it, but the one thing that annoys me is that I have to press the lock/power button to reactivate the screen (after the set time of course).

Is there any way to disable this so that I can just swipe the screen to reactivate it, and then move the circle to unlock it? Perhaps a default feature, or an app?

Thanks!

What you are describing is bringing the phone out of its sleep mode. As you say, this occurs after a set period of time. You could always set the screen to never sleep in Settings - Display & Gestures - Sleep - "Never Turn Off".

If you do that, however, it will have a big impact on your battery life as the screen is the biggest user of the battery. I also don't think the screen lock will activate if you do that, but I might be wrong.

I would be surprised if you can get an app to let you just swipe to wake the phone, because the phone needs to be on (awake) to register the finger movement on the screen, so as the phone screen is off it won't register the swipe.

If the screen could register movement when the screen was off we would have some weird and wonderful things happening when the phone is in the pocket.

All I can think of is:

1) Go into GMail on a PC and try to recover your details there, I assume that you set up a recovery email address when you set up your account. Though you may have some trouble if you cant remember your GMail address

2) Do a factory reset of the phone (to clear out the old account). Create a new GMail account and start again.

3) Make a note of your new GMail account details :)

Not the most helpful suggestions, but this is all I can think of. Someone else might have better ideas.

[Edit] - Just had another thought. This happened to someone I know. They were typing in .....@gmail.com when the phone had actually been set up as ......@googlemail.com The phone account is very specific and will not substitute one for the other. Don't know if this will help, it depends on how much you can remember of your account name.
