Q: What are some of the problems people have with their Galaxy Note?

I would say that the biggest problem I have with the Note is that there are not enough hours in the day available to play with it. The only problem I have noticed, since deinstalling battery xl, is that there can be up to three seconds lag on the home button. I have nothing else to compain about (although I don't use bluetooth heavily and the speech recognition I see to be a gimmick).

I am aslo still on Gingerbread.

since installing ics official I find the phone app quite slow. Battery is currently 69% after 8.5 hrs - not too shabby.
 
The lag is bloody awful. Spoken to Samsung re the lag and was assured that the ICS would rectify this issue, sadly no.
 
The only problem I can think of off the top of my head is that the phone doesn't give the option to leave the screen on indefinitely. It tops out at like 10 minutes. I like to drive with the screen on and my music on shuffle so I had to get a third party app to fix that. Seems petty but it shows how great of a device it is. I'm a heavy user so I'd have found more if it was there.

Last night I did the non-root ICS upgrade (I'm using the AT&T LTE version) and holy jeez it made me love it more somehow. It's faster, smoother and just about every app works better, even third party apps. I'm with touringhaggis in that there isn't enough time in the day to play with it. :)

I also have the LTE version...I've long used a settings app called "Quick Settings" (by Halibut), which allows you to keep the screen on indefinitely. You may have to configure Quick Settings app to show display settings however.

Download Extended Controls which has a toggle button for controls, one of which is screen auto off disable amongst others. When my phone is docked in the Samsung car dock, the screen stays on all the time.

True, this is something that I miss about my N900 (along with the built in fm transmitter and factory fitted root shell), but I also appreciate the thinness of the Note which it would not have if it sported a hardware keyboard. It would also be a lot heavier. So, on balance I am living just fine without it.

Camera and photos popping up is laggy at times. Wish it had more ram I think is an issue. The Galaxy S3 should boost this issue since it is identical to the Note but with 2gb of ram. Really is the best phone Ive had since trading my Iphone 4 in for it (AT&T USA version). Added a 16gb card to it very happy overall, I get lots of comments on it from people.

you 'aving a laugh mate???? Do you not read the news?!

Mines ok - lags pretty much gone since ICS, battery life improved and easily get a full day out of it.

Never had problems with bluetooth or others points made. Phone calling is slightly slower at opening but its marginal.

Maybe the OP should read up more on how to fix his problems than just jump in with both feet. theres plenty of useful info on here.

And I'm sorry but people criticising it for not having a physical keyboard....did you not have a look first???:confused::rolleyes::D

Very odd. I thought that the main difference between the Note and the SIII was the quad core processor instead of a dual core. The amount of RAM remained the same at 1GB (certainly according to my phone specs website of choice).

I did look at the phone in great detail before I bought it and I was aware of the lack of physical keyboard. What I was trying to say was that I miss not having a physical keyboard sometimes. What I also said was that I am aware of the reasons why the Note does not have one and tend to agree with them. So, I can assure you that you are perceiving criticism where none exists.

Didn't have these problems with gingerbread....! Any ideas on how to solve?

Most people recommend a factory reset and cache wipe to get back to a clean state. This apparently cleans up most strange behaviour for a lot of people. That being said there is always a risk of bricking, so I recommend you read through this post for some more details and educate yourself before doing a reset.

I got one... I can't get the browser to default to desktop mode. :/

Using a different browser isn't an option.
 
I had Battery Issues afater ICS

I formated my Internal SD & then did Factory reset
My Phone works Great now & has better Battery Life too

Wonder why everybody keeps saying dont Factory rest ???

The problem occurs at random based on the revision of the eMMC chip that you happen to have and what you do with the phone (factory reset / deleting large files and apps). If you wipe the fourth time you may or may not kill your phone. I continue to mention it in case someone, I suggest a wipe to, is not aware of the risk.

I had loads of Movies on my Internal ard
it was almost full

but i did it & i guess was lucky & will be doing it one more time
next month befoe i get my S3 ;)
 
I have a problem with the FM radio which switches off after a few minutes and then again after maybe half an hour. It shows that it's on but the only way to get it to work again it to remove and then replace the headphone jack. I have it set to play continuously i.e. not in sleep mode. Anyone have this issue ? Any thoughts welcome.
