Help mail are erased from office account

Newbie
On my newly bought Galaxy Nexus, I have setup my office email account. I can receive and send email, no problem. But if a receive a mail on my smartphone and then, I go to Outlook and download the mails, they are erased from my cell. How can I receive mails on my smartphone and in Outlook and keep them in my phone, like it used to work in my previous Blackberry.

thanks!

Are you using MS Exchange? That should keep both the phone and outlooks view of your email fairly synced. If you are using a POP email account, its pretty unreliable for accessing email from two separate systems.

thanks for the reply.

No, I'm not using Exchange, we use POP server.

I have no problem receiving the mails but as soon as they are also received in Outlook, they disappears from my phone, which is really annoying. Never had any problem with blackberry.

Have you gone through the setting options in outlook and on the phone?

its been a LONG time, but I'm pretty sure in the pop set-up there is a option to "leave mail on the server"

There is indeed an option to leave mail on the server and the option is checked, except in my Outlook, who remove the mails from the POP server. But once downloaded locally in the phone, shouldn't they stay there even if the mail is removed from the POP server?

I'm by know means an expert...

My guess is no, that when the phone syncs with your pop account it sees the message gone, assumes it was deleted and removes it from your phone.
