Help Firmware Upgrade Ice Cream Sandwich??

Hi

I've got a message in my Kies programme informing me of a firmware upgrade. My current version is PDA-KJ1/PHONE:KI2/CSC:KJ1 (PTR). The latest version is PDA-LP9/PHONE:LP9/CSC:LP9. Is this the latest version the Ice Cream Sandwich?

Thanks

Yes.

Maybe you can help me. I'e got a lot of Apps on my phone. If I upgrade I lose them, right? Any way I can back them up, print out a list or save the list to a text or some other file on my PC?

Tx

Short, sweet and "to the point". Tx, Ironass for your brevity.

If you are upgrading via Kies you will, in theory, not, "lose", your app's as the upgrade is No Wipe.

Even if you did, you can easily re-download them from your Play Store account after signing in.

However, personally, I would wipe my phone either prior to or post install of ICS to prevent conflicts in app's or settings. See my thread, here.

Just read your thread. Tx. Very informative. I was not talking about upgrading Kies: Done that. I was talking about ICS. I intend wiping my phone clean before and/or after I upgrade. Don't want any any hangers-on from Gingerbread upsetting ICS. That's why I am asking about the Apps. I quote your thread:

"Providing your app's are all sync'd with the Play Store, they will start re-installing automatically, one-by-one. Your paid app's are still there as paid app's, so you do not lose them."

I guess that most of my Apps I downloaded from Play Store. What do you mean by "sync'd with Play Store"? Once I have upgraded will I automatically be able to sync with Play Store or will i need to manually download each App. That's why was asking about getting a list either saved or printed.

Tx

I was not talking about upgrading Kies:

Neither was I.

Some people do not allow automatic syncing with the Play Store, for data usage reasons, and so that advice is aimed at them.

Once I have upgraded will I automatically be able to sync with Play Store or will i need to manually download each App.

One you have signed in to your Google account the app's should start d/l'ing.

That's why was asking about getting a list either saved or printed.

As with anything of this nature, gremlins can occur. Sometimes the Free app's do not load for instance. You can either install MyBackup Pro or you could, as you say, make a list, or take screenshots, of My app's in the Play Store, before updating. All paid app's should show as purchased when you re-download.

Just did my upgrade too. If you had a look at Ironass thread which was referenced earlier, you should see my post further down explaining what I did. Hope that helps.
