Root Is this for real? ICS for Spectrum!

I've been following this thread for a while now, but I got so excited when my itchy finger forced me to scroll down to "About Phone" and hit "Software update" for the 100th time since i got this phone a month ago, and instead of getting a dissapointing "Your phone is up to date" was replaced with a hope encouraging

"A DOWNLOAD ERROR HAS OCCURED FOR YOUR SOFTWARE UPDATE, PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER!"

Let me know if you guys are getting the same thing.

Interesting...Were you on V6 when you tried this? Did you have a working data connection when you tried? Let us know if anything changes!

I think he was talking about trying to dll the ICS leak.

Waves, having CWM will casue any OTA to fail. The bootloop fix zip is included with Broken Out so thats why you didnt bootloop.

Shane, I wouldnt try this as it caused people who know ALOT more than myself all kinds of problems.
 
And I do appreciate you guys looking into this because I am very interested but I know I have no where near enough savvy to know what is actually going on ;)

I'm running Broken Out w. Popcorn kernel and I haven't even checked this myself as I dont want to return to stock, reflash stock recovery and have to do that whole deal. Let us know if anything changes!
 
The latest cab has been at V7_15 for a while now, but it's still locked. I wouldn't be surprised if they are going to be close to public stress testing soon.
 
It just means that the update server is not reporting back correctly. I have not found anything that is downloadable yet on the update server and the codes used to find your current restore cab still report back v6_00
 
Soooo, on the phone with VZW and another rep saying that ICS is "soon"... What his definition of soon is, I have no idea. But, at least he wasn't condescending about it. :-D
 
So my phone went back yo saying "device is up to date". I don't doubt that the ability to get the other message was just a hiccup by someone internally on the roll out of the new update so I am still optimistic.:smokingsomb:
