Polycarbonate is a thermoplastic polymer.![]()
Yes, the central root material may be "plastic", but thermoplastic polymer (polycarbonate) is processed and formed completely differently using high heat and is a completely different material when it comes to strength, durability and isolation.
For this same reason this material is used for cars, jets and homes all over the world, not just on samsung phones. lol.
Same could be said for metal vs forged metal... yes, they are both METAL, but forged metal costs 10x's more and is 10x's stronger.
I guess its all subjective but I dont get the whole "cheap materials" argument against samsung. YES, apple uses the most expensive choice in using glass both front and back, but could you imagine how heavy the S3 would be with glass on both sides? And oh btw, people who rave the HTC One X is "higher quality materials"... sorry to bust your balls, but its "plastic" also. lmao
