very excited to get this phone! was originally going to get a pre. this forum changed my mind viewing it over the past week and looking at sense ui. You guys are awesome!

It's 512/512 that is pooled and shared between the OS/Graphics/Apps.

So in reality it IS 1gb of ram.
Didn't read the top line when you first posted lol (I have selective reading). Caught myself though:o

Thanks!

Not sure I'd call 768 neutered, but no, no confirmation no that.

Once I get an official spec sheet I'll pass it on.

This is another reason why I don't think it will be released till well after CTIA...

It just seems a shame to down clock to 768 when the N1 runs at 1ghz.

Thanks again NKT.

there's going to be a micro SD card slot too I presume.

What would be the use of the storage on this device?

512MB RAM (memory)
512MB ROM (OS installation)
8GB moviNand (apps)
16GB SD card (media)

So it seems since moviNand takes care of the apps then there would be a lot of the Flash space free'd up. Any chance this would allow the phone to actually allocate more than 512MB for memory (sdram)?

That is my assumption. With the 8gb on board for apps/storage, that frees up the other flash memory to be used for graphics and OS (since it's a pooled resource). I think I remember hearing that it would be shipping with an 8gb microSD, but wouldn't doubt that would change to 16gb.

I'm not gonna lie, I can't believe we The Sultan gave us the only "leak" info of the day....was hoping for more, but in Good news.

ONLY 1 DAY LEFT.

Yes, I know it's possible that there's no announcement tomorrow, but I'm an optimist.

Edit: Sorry NKT, I'm really glad you're back too.....it feels like you never left.

sorry, I was just havin a little fun. Your Curve is a fantastic device. At this point in time, I just can't imagine going to a device who's company's stock is valued at $0 and is quickly looking down the path of insolvency.

that's one of the reasons i didn't buy it.

If they went from 512mb to 8gb on board in the past then wouldn't it be more likely it will come with no sd card to compromise the cost? Most people wouldn't need more than 8 gigs anyways - at least in the first year or so of ownership.

i will asking y'all for help and encouragement as this will be my first time rooting a device. :D :D :D :D

Flash is much slower than RAM. Why would you want to allocate flash memory to OS and graphics? Seems odd to me. Am I missing something?

What about This Post?

It seems to imply that there is 1g of ram. and a little of 6gigs of the NAND available for the user. I'm guessing the other part has stuff on it?

NKT, Is this new information that has emerged after you were able to handle the test phone? Or confirmation of what you believed to be in the test phone?
