Help Way to wake-up phone?

The original Inc had an optical joystick that you could press to wake it up. This phone doesn't have one...any other way to wake it up w/o pressing the power button?

maybe a custom ROM will allow the home button to be it by pressing it for 3-5 secs

It was not responsive enough until Gingerbread came along if I recall. I use it all the time. I wonder how fast I'll adjust to not having it on my phone anymore. I hate moving the little arrow thing around, and that's on a 10" tablet!

I just got the Incredible 4G today, but my optical joystick was working fine on my original Incredible this morning. It is also unrooted and on Gingerbread.

Or this one. I haven't tried either, but I bet once this phone is rooted, you'll be able to wake with volume buttons.
