Damn it guys i'm financial accounting class right now and i can't freakin concentration. Spent all class pressing f5 for updates...i'll be heading straight to the verizon store afterwards to look for an answer. wish me luck :-)

Has anyone tried calling a CSR at Verizon this morning to see if you can preorder the Incredible? I'd be curious to see if in fact the phone now shows up in their system along with a release date.

YES. I have to change my current America's Choice Plan to a Nationwide Plan in order to upgrade. I wanted to have that done before I ordered the phone. The lady there told me to wait until I order the phone. Then she asked me which phone I was looking at and I said the INCREDIBLE. Guess what? She had no clue. She thought that was a Motorola phone! I had to tell her about it!

whats the likelihood that testman is down due to the incredible? and if so, will it come online before the announcement?

Luck? I wish you find an Incredible! :D

Here is my armchair CMO moment of the day. Why make a huge announcement at CTIA? Why not just use the tons of people already out there who are chatting about the device already? You know if they announce it then all of the websites that most Android smartphone users will announce it as well......for free.

I can guarantee that they have been following Twitter and Forums to see the buzz, the number of people having conversations about the device and about the reaction that they could be looking at with an online social media campaign. IMO I would do the following:

1) Make a landing page specific to the Incredible with a unique url that could be tweeted, posted on forums etc.

2) Use the #CTIA hashtag to put it out there as well as all of the other related hastags people would follow (#android, HTCincredible etc) and let the free publicity begin.

3) Have it available online for 1 week to get the early adopters who are chomping at the bit for this device (mainly us and others out there) to buy it then release it to the stores for those who want the hands on touchy feely thing (which I mainly want on the N1 due to potential issues).

Of course Verizon feels that their network is the differentiator and IMO they are wrong. That may be the case in little podunk towns around the country but if you are talking major metro areas I think it's the device that pushes a specific carrier over the top and just for proof look at AT&T. Their 3G is spotty in areas like NY (?????) yet the iPhone (data hog) is keeping them together. No iPhone then no AT&T. Again...just my opinion but I think it's great.

whats the likelyhood that testman is down due to the incredible? and if so, will it come online before the announcement?

There is a chance it is for the Incredible. Anything is possible. It has been down for awhile. I think the testman will be back up right before or after an announcment today. I hope the announcment is something to do with the Incredible. Could have something to do with skype though. Maybe both, just wait and see!!

Well, while you're in a financial accounting class I'm at work doing some financial accounting. And oh man, it's invigorating!

*head falls onto keyboad*

Huh?! What?! Now back to this spreadsheet...

We shouldn't let our bias cloud our judgment. It's very possible our trusted peers were lied to or gathered faulty information. We do trust them, but we don't know that their sources are correctly informed.

I'm hoping so, but I'm also a logical person.

see I would totally go with this as I am a logical person as well but one of those sources is the ENTIRE Internets main source of the pictures we have

If I recall correctly, the first hint of the eris happened at the Moto Droid announcement, as the head of google was holding an eris. They never said anything about it, but they did hold it up for photos.

its killing me. i do landscaping and i only have a lg dare. so when i go to work i wont have anyway to keep up with things.. if the incredible gets announced im throwin my dare under the mower.....(if it freezes one more time i may just do it beforehand)

I assume you mean why don't I have an iPhone. I hate Apple with a passion and would just as soon kill myself than use an Apple product. I also won't go to AT&T because they royally screwed me over years ago. Thieving bastards!

Where's the love?

haha, it is getting to everyone. Good things come to those who wait. We have been waiting for a long time, so lets hope we get some good stuff today!

8 o'clock, Vegas time!

Hope this announcement comes soon...I have a reputation to uphold. When you sit in your cubicle all morning, tapping F5 vigorously while wearing a party hat, people start talking.

Just called sales and lady said they don't have anything yet and have just heard rumors, but will email me if anything comes up that she can share. She also said they often don't know until the day something comes out.

I must disagree. I live in NYC, and it's common knowledge that Verizon is the strongest network to be on. Not just for 3G coverage, but for simply making phone calls.

T-Mobile is known as being "the ghetto carrier", Sprint is known for lackluster coverage/bars, and AT&T is known for excessive dropped calls.

From all accounts I've read, a positive experience with Verizon is consistent in other Metro areas as well. (Boston, LA, Seattle)

FWIW

one of my clients owns a verizon retail store and i called in on him to see if he knew anything. At first he just said that he was on the Verizon site and didnt see anything, but then i said there were rumors of something called the incredible. I then heard someone in the background and him say "the incredible" to this person in the background and some more mumbling and then he came back and said

"yes, something is coming"

will it be in stores today? i asked

"no, it will not be in stores today"

Again, take it FWIW, but my opinion has been, and will be until proven wrong is that we will find out information today but noone will be playing with an Incredible today. At BEST we may be able to preorder via Verizon or some other outlet like BB, but thats about it.

I beleive we'll be receiving an official release date and definitive answers, specs, first looks, etc on this phone and honestly, i'd be happy with that and i think we all should.

I'm no Verizon history buff, dont claim to be, and havent read but 1/10 of the posts in this thread, but i HIGHLY doubt that this has ever happened in the past where a phone was announced and then available in store/online that very same day.

Then again, i'm not sure any one phone has ever gotten this much hype before release...

So, like all the rest, i will wait..and i will be happy just to hear Verizon confirm this phone today and give me an official date.

back to the shadows...

PS - thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum.

On a recent trip stopping in Rochester, Cleveland, Houston, & Newark Verizon was the primary carrier for most the phones I saw.

haha i dont know how long ill be able to sit in my chair refreshing everything here..ill get up and stretch every few hours so i dont get any unwanted hemdroids..! haha

Was hoping for some good info when I woke up! The anticipation is killing me. I've been reading all these articles about Verizon unveiling skype mobile today and they are making me nervous. I really hope that for the sanity of everyone that is not the only thing they unveil (like at MWC). I don't give a crap about skype mobile, give me the HTC Incredible!
