So what's your overall impression with the SGIII?

I guess it depends on the phone your coming from.

The older the previous phone the more impressed you'll be.

For me the S3 is everything I need and a whole lot more.

Little Things like notification LED, flash, and forward facing camera and some software tweets, as well as Nfc are an awesome addition that my old phone didn't have.

Overall, I'd say it an awesome handset. Nothing to complain about yet.

Doesn't live up to the hype.. good phone, but nothing better than a lot of phones already out.

What hype? Hype is just what everyone dreams about after reading.

I personally love the phone. I don't know what it is, but i love the look of it. The big screen, smoothness of the AI. It's quick. Very quick.

I don't care that it doesn't have the quadcore, because its honestly useless in a phone right now.

I couldn't be happier with the phone. Coming from a TB, which i also loved, this phone is just hands down, better. It's amazing how every time i look at it and pick it up i'm just excited to turn it on. In my eyes its perfect. I'm not picky. Just real.

My impression coming from the original Dinc: awesome! Fast, fast, and really really fast! Big, clear screen, thin, light...just a great joy to use.

I've been using ICS for a while on my rooted Dinc so the learning curve is really small for this new device. I immediately switched out the launcher to Nova which is much better than TouchWiz IMO.

Reception is great on 4G. I get -93 to -99 at home, and -87 at work. Speed tests show 15 MB down and 3-4 MB up on 4G.

Videos play flawlessly. I used the WatchESPN app and there was zero stutter or hiccups.

Voice commands work pretty well. Should come handy in a car dock while traveling.

GPS and Maps is awesome like other Google phones.

Love the hidden "menu" and "back" buttons at the bottom. Very nice feature.

The back of the phone is plastic and scratches REALLY easy, so I'm hoping my Speck case gets here ASAP to minimize damage.

coming from the dx, it's a huge improvement. really glad I waited until now to upgrade. that's all I can say, never used any lte phones before this.

I'm coming from the galaxy nexus. This phone is what I was hoping the nexus would have been. Hands down incredible phone. The white is beautiful!

I am simply amazed at how far phones have come since I got my OG Dinc (overheating/rebooting nightmare). I could not put this phone down. This phone has a much larger screen and is very light. I look at my Dinc and just laugh.

If you are like a typical person who buys a phone and stays on a 2 year contract this is a major step up from any older phone.

Only complaints are the Verizon bloatware and TouchWiz. Both of which are easy to fix with all of the launchers available and root access the community has provided.

I think most people will be very happy with this phone. It looks really sharp, the screen is great, the camera is the best one that I've used on a phone, it has surprisingly strong speakers, and the operating system runs really fast.

I had a stock Rezound and a rooted GNex prior to getting the SGS3 (among other Droids), but they don't compare. A rooted GNex is the closest you get, but it's still not as smooth, nor as good looking, as the SGS3.

Yes, there was alot of hype with this phone, and yes, there are improvements to be made, but overall I think this phone blows anything else out of the water right now.

I also came from a rooted HTC Rezound and spent a little time with a Galaxy Note. This phone is MUCH better than both of those in terms of speed, display quality, and smoothness. Form factor was never a big deal with me, but it seems like Samsung could have done without the physical home button and gone with an electronic one. I'm sure some folks could tax the processors and display until they really drag and battery life always depends on your usage. But for myself, it's a near perfect device that works great for me.

Verizon Model: Early impressions-

My comparison to the GNexus. The SIII just does more stuff. If you want to accredit that to touchwiz fine but for me I like the added features, without a doubt. It's suppose to be the same screen as the GN but from using the GN for as long as I have the SIII screen is far far better, period! I see no issues of banding at all, the vibrancy, colors, brightness is far superior in my opinion. I don't see how anyone could disagree. I haven't experienced any lag swiping from screen to screen. Every live wallpaper I've tried has no lag. Customizing the lock screen is a nice built in feature although only four can be added it would be nice to have more customization and to be able to add widgets. Yes I know there are several apps to achieve this but I've come to love the ability to do this right out of the box. I don't want to rely on third party apps anymore, well not for everything as I had been in the past. It will take some time to take full advantage of all the little shortcuts you can do as far as swiping/motioning. There are a lot of motion shortcuts and I plan to use all of them. I think I'll give the built in messaging a go. The built in keyboard so far I am liking. Finally a swiping keyboard built in and to this point I'm very impressed with the prediction(check that, back to swiftkey). This phone is thin, thinner then the GN and far more attractive. It really has the combination of sex appeal and functionality. Relax people I'm just trying to give you an impression without having played with the phone. And I'm glad I got the white after playing with the blue. The white and sliver accent along with the silver beveled edge around the home button really make this phone polished. So nice looking that I plan on going without a screen protector and case. As careful as I am with my possessions I am not to worried. I can't get over how thin it is. That's another thing to consider when contemplating a case. I just don't want to add any thickness at all. And no reboots! The GNexus was plagued with reboots. Yes the Galaxy Nexus is a vanilla phone but it just wasn't what I expected. Relying on third party apps to achieve what you want without rooting ended up not sitting well with me. The SIII does pretty much so far what I want it to straight out of the box. It has different color leds notifications built in as well although not customizable at least they are there. I feel this is the way a phone should be made and if they are included with the phone you would think they are optimized to work with the phone well. So far so good.

Only issue I had was setting up my yahoo account but for some reason it resolved itself after trying a few hours later. Not having a wifi toggle is a pain so I will be installing a third party app in hopes of creating a widget. Although there is the always present wifi toggle in the drop down notification which maybe I'll just use that method. I don't see a power bar besides the one in the notification bar which I can deal with and I'm sure will come to love, JUST ADD WIFI DAMN IT! I'm having issues trying to get the screen capture to work. I'd rather have the power button/volume down simultaneously for the screen capture. I'll figure it out.

Over all this is the experience I was hoping I'd get with the GN. Sadly it was not. But I am moving on to the SIII and I can see myself enjoying it for some time, Don't think I really have a choice now, thanks Verizon...

There's very little I can fault with the S3 with the possible exception of S Voice, which is hopeless. I've installed Voice Actions Plus which is scarily like a real person.
Battery life is great, watching video on BBC Iplayer is a joy to behold, superb camera and video recorder (even in low light) , even silly things like being able to call someone who is texting you by simply raising the phone to your ear. Also I've never been one who liked Walkman/Ipod etc but the music player works really well and gives great sound quality. You'll read lots of posts hear with problems but when set against the 10 million S3's sold it's a blip in the Universe.

Verizon Model: Early impressions-

I'm having issues trying to get the screen capture to work....

You need the fat part on the side of your hand to actually drag across the top of the screen to activate the screen shot. I thought it was a sensor type thing that you can just hover over the screen, but you actually have to make contact with the screen.

Other than that, I agree with your review...it's a great phone!

My previous 2 phones - iPhone 4S and HTC One X

My Impressions - The best mobile experience i've had to date. Although i've noticed that android/samsung doesnt completely have it nailed down as far as some little things such as convenience go... I think the sheer power and brilliance of the galaxy hardware, coupled with the availability of an open source OS, more than outways the benefits of the iPhone. I think that the ios is more polished and simpler to use, and doesnt miss on some very obvious minor details... but at this point some of the minor shortcomings in the galaxy (not being able to show just calls in the log is one example) can easily forgotten. And i wouldnt dare think about trading my phone for an iphone or the HTC ONE X. The ONE X was just way too buggy for me and HTC sense has fallen behind samsungs touchwiz with 4.0 if you ask me. Just way too plain jane for me. But this is just an opinion of a slightly above average smartphone user who has yet to dive into the world of rooting. But i've been jailbreaking on apples ever since the first one

Coming form an HTC incredible, this phone is great. I've had this phone for a day. It's very fast and the screen is amazing. I have to get used to the size, it's big coming from the incredible. I was watching a video last night on you tube and it was as good as my hd tv. My wife couldn't believe it how good it looked. She also loved the weight of the phone. Her iPhone 4s is like a rock compared to the s3, but not in a cheap way IMO.

My only issue is a video problem. Probably a software issue. I went to a Verizon store today to fix the issue or replace, but they don't even have any yet. The salesman wanted to play with mine. Lol! I would definitely recommend this phone so far....Cheers

I'm having an issue with too. You can also press the home button and the on/off button at the same time. That works too.

So far I really like mine (with T-Mobile) but I have been having issues with the Facebook App... it won't post my status. Also I tried installing both Addons Detector and Light Flow which are both two awesome apps but when installed they turn on the Talk feature of the phone, so when I open up Facebook you here the phone say "facebook" and then each post you click on within Facebook is ready out loud to you. I could not figure out how to turn it off until I uninstalled both of those apps which sucks because they are really cool ones.

I see now thanks. You have to really have the phone lay flat in your hand to do this, at least for me. Pressing somewhat firmly against the screen, drag your entire hand across. I still like the power button/volume down better though. This way seems silly to me for some reason.

Coming from an HTC EVO 4G....
Blown away. The phone is blazing fast. The only tweak so far has been adding Swype. I had a strange issue putting my number from Sprint, had data and could send texts and call, but couldn't receive texts/calls. I spent some time with Verizon tech support and all is well.

Color me a fan boy, but this is the fastest phone I've ever had.

Well damn there you go! Solved my issues then. Hadn't heard this one, where you find this gem, don't say manual no one reads those.

My first smart phone that I've purchased personally.

I'm pleased with the rear camera performance, 1GB of extra RAM really makes the system flow smoothly and responds quickly, ICS interface, and battery life.

Not impressed with the lack of option to install apps like games to the microSD slot. Seriously that was the main reason why I insisted to find a smart phone with a microSD slot so I free up my internal space as much as possible. I have a 16GB phone no problem get a 32GB microSD card problem solved NOT. I don't care who is at fault samsung or google play but this is just rubbish.

Screen brightness really is lack luster when viewing the screen outside.

Yes I agree. Good point and I'm glad you brought this up. What's up with that. I downloaded app2sd and I can't move anything to the sd. If I knew this I would have gotten a 32gb. Although 16gb will surely get me through, it's the point of having an sdcard. I suppose I can fill it up with music since it will sound better then streaming google music. I hope this can be updated without root.
