Root Help to Explore the CyanogenMod 7.2 after installing Link2sd for SD Card.

It's totally a different experience for me after having CyanogenMod 7.2 on my HTC Wildfire S. Now the device has really changed from its previous version on all aspects.

I Successfully installed Link2sd for 4GB SD Card after creating a second partition (ext2) for 872MB using MiniTool Partion Wizard Pro Home Edition. ( Downloaded the tool from : Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online)

Now the thing is:

What are the apps from phone to SD Card Partition
1.Should be moved and
2.Should not be moved....?

Note: I feel this thread probably might be helpful to all, who are having CM 7.2 newly (like me) on their device.!!!

Basically you can move everything to sd card but you should leave 'system' apps on the phone's internal memory. In settings set it to 'Auto Link' apps, that way any new apps will be linked to sd card at installation. Also make sure 'Auto link apps at boot' is checked.

Go through the apps one by one in Link2sd and create link for each - if the app is a system app it will tell you not to. You can't go wrong ;)

It is a magic tool!

Thanks for the reply. The tool is working fine.

I Installed few apps from the market (Like: Opera mobile browser, Yahoo Mail Client, Colornote, etc..) and proceeded with 'Create Link' on Link2sd.

Before the apps installation, the internal storage was around 90 MB free. But now it seems to be reduced to 70 MB Free (after those few apps installed).

How to increase or free more internal storage further...? (I don't think now it is possible to install 100+ apps)

How to get the digital clock and weather status on home screen. I don't find any option for that.....

Edit : How to take a backup now? When I go thru ROM Manager, it is asking to install ClockworkMod Recovery.

I only have about 60mb free - it's OK - and I have about 55 apps installed. Use CacheMate and SD Maid to have a clean up every now and then. A reboot clears a few mb too. This is especially important after any updates or after installing anything.

To add items to the desktop, long press it and a menu will appear.

To go into recovery, press the power button and choose 'reboot', you will get a sub-menu with more options one of which is 'recovery', choose that. You can go into recovery through ROM Manager, too, but it will insist on reinstalling CWM first, which doesn't hurt :)

Thanks. The Recovery thing is finished.
I want to get back my HTC Skins / Themes to the device. Since HTC Hub is not available, how to manage the task..?

Actually I am not more familiar with ADW Launcher's settings and options, it is a bit confused for me.

After installing CM 7.2 the option 'ADW Launcher' was at the settings menu next to 'CyanogenMod Settings'.

I went thru a guide which made many wonders and magic.
Here is the link : CompleteGuideToADW - adw-launcher-android - Complete guide to ADW.Launcher. - Customized Home replacement app for android devices - Google Project Hosting

Also at : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=ADW.Launcher_How-to

I installed ADW.Launcher and ADW Notifier (by AnderWeb) from the Android market. Uninstalled the Previous ADW.Launcher thru ROM Manager.(with a warning of Collapsing the ROM!!)

Now the wonder starts, The 'ADW Launcher' is NOT there at settings, instead now it is at home screen 'Menu' - 'More' and there as 'ADW Settings'

Since then 'CyanogenMod Settings' and 'ADW Settings' has many more options to explore, which are more user friendly.
Now i Can able to set 'Sense Previews',etc...

Hope this might be useful for others.

Thanks for the useful post. By the way, check out Click Clock on the market!

Here's a home screen in CM7.2 that comes close to looking like the stock ROM. The wallpaper comes from the Zedge app and the clock is Animated Weather app (a bit pricey but worth it)

How to increase the speed of CPU...without affecting the phone to work properly.

thanks.

How to increase the speed of CPU...without affecting the phone to work properly.

thanks.

Download No Frills CPU - this will allow you to overclock the kernel very easily. Mine runs at 806 Mhz without issues. You can also set a lower limit for when the phone is at rest etc.

I'm still hesitating to go on CPU overclock. Thanks for the suggestions. But I might go on near future.

I wanted to enable 'USB Tethering" on my phone to share internet on my PC. I connected my phone to PC thru USB, on device gone to 'Wireless & Networks', 'Tethering & Portable hotspot' and 'checked' USB tethering. But there is no response from PC.

Earlier (on HTC Stock ROM) it was simple. Now I am finding difficult to connect internet. Is there any method to solve the issue...

Try Wi-Fi Tether for Root Users from the market. I have not used it, but it is supposed to be good.

Thanks for the guide.
I tried Wi-fi tether but can't go thru.

I read tethering on a rooted device like HTC wildfire S seems to difficult be for many. I also tried many options from app market. But noting has worked. (It's not a big issue, but it's a must have facility on phone.)

Finally ClockworkMod Tether App made it possible.

Installed the apps on phone and PC. After following the procedures finally device connected successfully.
(It's trial version app only. But its worth paying)

Hi,

I got one problem with CyanogenMod 7.2. Video is not supported or running. I tried many times and many format (.mp4, .avi, .3gp) but no result.

Even found suitable convertor for HTC Wildfire S, converted the video but not running.

Here i found the Link for the convertor :

How to convert videos and transfer them to the HTC Wildfire S - Know Your Cell

anybody knows how to run it..?

Add: Camera also not taking videos.

Now I'm thinking to go back to HTC Stock/Custom ROM since i don't want to compromise on features. When we upgrade the software the features should increase not decrease.

I hope it's worth now installing the CM7.2 after some bugs were fixed...

I want to get all my apps installed now (around 30) back on CM7.2 instantly without installing one by one from market.

1). Will Titanium Backup take care of this...? (till now i haven't used)

In case possible:
2). Will there be any clash with new ROM because of this method.....?

Thanks.

Yes, use Titanium Backup to back up all your user apps - you can do it as a batch.

2). Will there be any clash with new ROM because of this method.....?

There won't be a clash, Titanium Backup works with any android ROM. Since it stores the backups on the SD card, you need to use the same card when you change ROMs.

Titanium Backup is a must have app for rooted users :)
