Root [CDMA] Problems with MeanROM ICS 2.4

MaxPower1

Newbie
I'm using that ROM with 2.6.38.8-3.0.30-Hybrid.AnthraX kernel. Some problems I'm having:

1. Camera sometimes won't work, I launch the camera and the app quickly closes. No errors, I have to reboot the phone to get it to work.

2. App downloads are really slow in the Google market. I get a lot of "Waiting for network" and "Connection timed out" errors on 3G, on WiFi it's just slow. For example, I downloaded a 2MB app over my wireless N network and it took just over 1 minute to download. This is slower than what it used to be on MeanROM 4.3. (I did clear the data and cache for the play store but got the same results). Internet speeds are about the same as they were when I had MeanROM 4.3.

3. I have a lot of random lags. It could pause for a second after unlocking the screen or scrolling through the app list or opening an app. Sometimes it will pause for about 5 seconds then the phone will restart.

4. Battery life is kind of bad, but I thought it was kinda bad on MeanROM 4.3 :dontknow:

I know the obvious thing to do is to do a superwipe and reinstall from scratch but I'm wondering if I should just try another ROM. Maybe there's a different kernel I can try first? The one I'm using is the only I could find, if there are other kernels they are probably hidden for some reason.

(I really miss the screen brightness setting that MeanROM had on the Quick Settings drop down)

What say you?

Edit: HBOOT 1.5 with S:ON

there is a meanrom 4.5 i just downloaded.. ahvent flashed yet.. i have the same rom you do.. and dont notice any of those symptoms.. however.. i do notice slower than normal data on 3g.. when im in 4g, its not bad at all.

Same kernel as me, too?

Mean Rom 4.5 is Gingerbread version, fast and easy on the battery. This Rom uses Dodava's kernel.

Mean Rom 2.4 ICS, is Ice Cream Sandwich version and is derived from the Virgin Mobile leak of ICS. It has the stock kernel.

The only custom kernel I have seen for ICS on the Evo3D is Chad Goodman's release. It fixes boot loops for those who are HBoot 1.5, S-ON. SD Card access from a PC does not work, video camera and 3D camera do not work.

I am also running Mean Rom ICS 2.4 and experiencing some lag, reboots and freezes (about twice a week). My phone has been downgraded to HBoot 1.4, S-OFF. I am currently considering Cool ICS v7 rom. I have not fully transitioned to it yet.

I installed Warm TwoPointThree (I think it's RSL1 ODEXED). It runs so much smoother than any of the various different MeanROM versions that I installed. I think I'll pass on the ICS ROMs and stick with Warm TwoPointThree until I buy the EVO LTE or Galaxy SIII.

NP, "if it ain't broke don't fix it", glad you like your current ROM, enjoy
