UK Firmware Update Today

Just curious....I received a Firmware Update today and it took about 5 minutes and said it was "Optimising 88 Applications" so it must have been pretty substantial. Is there any way I can find out what has been altered?
 
If you mean me, no mine is unlocked and I am on Talk Mobile (UK).

Edit: Wait I just checked the first link and that article was from 3 days ago on the 9th July so it could be that then.
 
Well my phone is not branded, I am on Orange but my phone is unlocked to any network its a GSM phone no logos nothing and I didnt get an update.

What version are you on now? If others could advise what version they have also maybe some got the update when we were asleep or it did it silently in the background or something?

Mine is Android version 4.0.4

Not sure what other information would really apply in order to know whether we got the update?

Have you checked "Software Update" in Settings>About Phone?

It couldn't do that in my case since I put it into Flight Mode when I am asleep.
I found it in Notifications and had to manually click twice for either "Later" or "Install".

As others have seen version number doesn't change.
Base band now I9300BVLF2

Unfortunately didn't notice waht baseband was before.
 
Yeah mines different as well, weird really there should be something that tells you if you got a particular version.

Maybe the updates are being rolled out via network? Wishful thinking if its Jellybean :-D
 
So presumably the "D" version is an update to the "B" version?

Another thought; do the people who haven't got the updates have the "Only downloadable when connected via Wi-Fi" box ticked in Software Update?

The important details at this stage are in the final 2 digits - F3 is higher than F1 (I am assuming it is hexadecimal.) The latest official stock roms are at FB

for anyone who doesn't understand hexadecimal, it is base 16 instead of decimal, base 10, and the sequence is as follows:

0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F where A=10 and F=15

The rest of the baseband code appears to identify either the geographical region (for unbranded firmware) or the branded carrier.

My Slll is one week old unbranded and in the UK, PAYG T-Mobile.
Updated yesterday to V4.0.4 Baseband version L9300XXXLFB.

The 73MB update brings a new brightness widget to the notifications tray, allowing Galaxy S3 users to have easier access to the setting.

Samsung may have added this feature due to requests since brightness is sometimes tricky with Android devices, especially when users need to conserve their battery power.

With easy access to the setting, it is simpler to adjust it in order to fit a user's need at that particular time. Normally, they would have to navigate through the Galaxy S3's menus until they reached settings where they would find the main control for brightness.
