The real Swype KB is MUCH better than Samsung's swipe KB

I can not post a direct link, but the real Swype is MUCH better than Samsung's keyboard effort. With Samsung's KB, the predictive results are nuts a lot of times and sometimes the words do not match the path. To make it worse, the predictive text is awkward sometimes to override. Not so with Swype. Super sweet.

There are quite a few beta themes. I picked stock ICS and a purple- in honor of the purple blue 32gb I never got (all was in stock for 32gb was white).

Here is the thread that provides the way to better swipe action. The ones I tested work fine :)

Post #6 in this link is a good clue:

THEMED SWYPE! fits and working! - xda-developers

I've had swype on my 32gb blue GS3 (sorry to rub that in, rushmore :) ) since the day I got it (July 6). I played with the Samsung keyboard and quickly got frustrated. I came from a Thunderbolt with Swype and that worked pretty well. The new version on my GS3 is far superior to that- the predictive features are awesome, even when my swyping isn't accurate it seems to know the word I was aiming for.

It's not in the play store, you have to get it from the developer's website. Google it and they will email you a link once you register.

Just downloaded the latest. I haven't used swype in 2 years so I thought I'd give it another go. Swiftkey is still better at least to me. The one thing that turned me off of Swype is the numbers. On Swiftkey they are layed out like a phone dialer so it is easier to hit them IMO.

This version of Swype is 10x better than the old version I had on my Droid X. However, I could have sworn the old version was much better with the placement/access to the symbols

I went through all the work to get the Swype beta and then saw the warnings how it can record and send everything you type to the developers. Is this just a standard warning that comes with a keyboard app or is it actually possible it will happen since it's still in development and they need usage data?

I know I'm a little paranoid about this sort of stuff. I really would prefer swype over the stock keyboard.

I actually think Samsung did an excellent job with their keyboard. It is very intuitive when I type, and easy to use. A solid back-up keyboard.

Swype....our unfortunate consolation prize to Shapewriter.

It's okay. I like "typing" on the stock keyboard better, but I like "swiping" on the Swype keyboard.

I'm glad I asked - it's much appreciated - still trying out other keyboards - but - I just started with the swype beta- and like it much better than the default - which I found to be not so good @ word prediction.

Yes, you get that warning with any 3rd party keyboards.

I think most people would consider swype to be reputable.

If you get the Beta and like it, how much does it cost to buy?

You can't buy it. It's in 'permanent' beta. Swype makes their money by selling the rights to manufacturers to preinstall on new phones. The Droid X had Swype preinstalled, as have MANY other phones. BTW - The beta has ALWAYS been better than any preinstalled version so don't hesitate to try it.

Thanks! I tend to read things literally and I assumed it was Beta because there was a full, paid , version.

Yeah, Swype is one of those apps I wouldn't hesitate to pay for. If they ever go to a paid version, I'll be first in line.

Someone mentioned that swift key was superior because it had the numbers laid out in a phone pattern. I wanted to show that a quick Swype from the Swype key to the letter r instantly snaps up this same number keyboard.
