I usually always wifi tether when my Phone is rooted and I wish to do more than just that. I'm seeing zv8 and droidvpn. Also custom roms that are cool.

Basically I'm lost at what should I do next and could use some help from the community lol

To the thread OP: Tethering is technically against MetroPCS's ToS, but that hasn't stopped anyone before. That's your own choice. As for custom roms, the only one currently available is BrokenOut if that's your cup of tea.

One question though. Like what are roms? And how do they work i wonder?

Sorry it's my first time trying something else besides tethering lol.

The first thing I do with root is to make backups using Titanium. It has saved me from frustration a number of times. Best root app around. I also like the optimizer app.

Also install CWM and make a backup of your current ROM, just in case anything you do (flashing Roms/themes) if you don't like, you'll have a way to get back before any flash.

I deleted the bloat ware and making a back up with my current rom is something I'm notv sure how to do lol

Also is,droid vpn good?

install Rom Manager off the play store. Then inside the app install CWM. Reboot then from the app again reboot into recovery. From there you can make a nandroid backup of your stock rom. Also from recovery you can install any ROMs you have put on your SD card. I like BrokenOut but id DOES have some bugs that have yet to be addressed so you might want to just go with stock ZVA debloated. You can always switch back so experimant.

One more app I will DEFINITELY reccomend is Rom Toolbox Pro. Pay the 4.99 for it as it seriously combines like twenty apps into one. It has a root explorer, an app manager, an app permission manager and startup manager, scripter and terminal emulater, ad blocker, Apps2SD manager, a rebooter, CPU (with profiles) and kernel controls, build.prop tweaks and editor, memory manager editor, SD speed booster, AND it lets you edit your system fonts, boot animations and Icons. Seriously its the best $4.99 Ive ever spent for android.

Wowv that sounds amazing lol I just don't want to lose my data you know? Lol also it's my first time installing roms on my phone so I'm kinda nervous lol

You can use Titanium to backup all your data, and you can export your contacts list to your SD card. But ya, you are inevitably going to lose some things. Its just a part of life. Just find the ROM your most comfortable with and after that get everything the way you like. It gets easier every time. The only thing I ever lose now is game saves which arent really all that big a deal and lots of games offer cloud syncs for save data.

You can backup app data which should contain your game saves in titanium backup.

Titanium backup saves user data for all apps (user and system) including game saves and even what song was loaded into the music player when you backed up the data.

You can even keep different profiles backed up for different users/roms

Also, I use auto backup to redo my backups at 3am on Mon,Wed, Friday so I never loose updates or game progress.

Ok I'm using titanium back up and i deleted some bloat ware and made some back up files. Now i think my next steps for my is to connect my ps3 controller to my phone (somehow) and overclock/underclock my phone, and maybe use a rom theme for my phone

Just maybe. but where to start?

I would get the ps3 remote in order first then flash Brokenout and underclock. For a quick clock change try cpuboost and use the Turbo widget.

Also, hit up the red/black or ics theme (ignore the no sim warning on lockscreen) themes if you want.

The red and black theme sounds nice lol. Also are there different types of Kernels? Id there are which would you recommend?

And the ps3 controller app is not working for me if you are aware of how it works. I hope there is another methods for this to work.

Sorry, no ps3....

Um, Brokenout has an overclock kernel, I use it fine at 180mhz

Oh so I install broken out first hahaha ok cool.

And I know that it wipes all of my data so how would I back up my files to my SD card or anywhere that my data is safe?

Sorry about the questions.

Question, I'm new to rooting too, but wouldn't the nandroid backup have everything backed up already? Couldn't you go to the nandroid backup and pick any app to reinstall? Why would you need titanium also to backup? Thanks in advance.

Also could you tell me how big is the nandroid backup? How many gigs it is?
