I love this phone...LOVE it. But I just can't get past the absolutely horrible signal in my area. I mean, it might be the phone, as bad as my Warp sucked I could at least send texts and make calls and it's supposed to be using the same towers. Don't really feel like waiting for an update, if there even will be one. Gonna return it to bestbuy tomorrow and order a Nexus from Google and get the $30 plan at TMobile. Like I said, I really loved this phone but what good is a phone that has no internet, no text, and no calls?

lol we are doing the exact opposite.i bought another evo today and will be sending my nexus back to google play by the end of the week.

if you love the evo just wait until you have the nexus in your hand.its the first cell i can truly say that i loved.i just wish it had better signal strength since tmobile isnt that great where im at.

in case you dont know once you dl jelly bean you cant download flash so download flash first if you want it.it doesnt come stock on the phone.you should also dl volume+ it makes a big difference in volume both for the speakers and head phones.then enjoy how smooth a phone can be once you start playing with jelly bean

There are some relatively easy ways around that. The easiest is to use GrooveIP and Google Voice to make VoIP phone calls. And the extra 2.5 GB of data before throttling can be used for a whole lot of minutes.

groove ip is nowhere near the quality of real minutes. And tmobile throttle is ungodly bad

GrooveIP depends on the hardware it is running on. Like any software, the better the hardware (and Internet connection) the better it works. And on a Galaxy Nexus it works well.

I've used Groove IP for over 6 months now, first on my Triumph and now the Evo and have had very good luck with it. As for T-MO's throttling though, you're absolutely right. It drops down to 2G Edge speeds after your data allotment.

If you get good T-Mobile signal, you may wanna try Simple Mobile. Simple Mobile is an MVNO carrier (uses T-Mobiles network) and offers MetroPCS-like pricing and the ability to use any GSM phone you want, including the GSM iPhones. Really a great deal.

OTOH, it felt like I was getting Edge speeds on VM when I had to use 3G.
