Root R.I.P. ReZound

After having my ReZound for about a year, and never having rooted a phone before, I decided I'd give it a shot. I've been having problems with it anyway, have an available upgrade, so I figured it wouldn't matter if I turned my phone into a brick. Well, it's currently a paper weight.

I managed to root it successfully following the instructions in the sticky. The trouble came when I attempted to flash a custom rom. I'm not exactly sure where I screwed up, but I can't even restore from my nandroid file. It boots to the fastboot menu, will allow me to open the recovery menu, but it won't load anything. It continually throws an error message and aborts the install.

I had planned initially to hold on to the ReZ for awhile longer since I wasn't blown away by the GS3, in spite of the 4G issues and video recording issues I'd been having, but it looks like I'll be getting that when VZW opens up in the morning. I like HTC devices, and I'm not a huge fan of TW, but I don't think the oneX is up to snuff..

unless youre just using the event as an excuse for a new phone ;) im pretty sure your phone is fixable.

if we cant figure out why your roms arent flashing, there is always the option to relock and run an ruu

to the OP, if you're still having problems post here exactly what is going on...you might look at some of the other threads on the forum that are about rezounds supposedly being bricked. Unless you did something called the "S-OFF" method of rooting your phone, your phone probably isn't broken for good, you just need to reset something. Try using a custom amon ra recovery ( See: I'm rooted, now what? ) to wipe everything before trying to restore your nandroid.

Definitely using this as an excuse to get a new phone. I like the ReZound, when its working properly. I got mine a few days after it was released and I've had a lot of problems with it. Bricking my phone was the last straw.

I figured there was something I could do to get it working but I had given up on it this morning whenbi made this thread.

I'll post the exact error messages I'm getting tomorrow.

Thanks for the responses, guys..

After having my ReZound for about a year

It was released 8 months ago in November... just imagine how fast time will fly when you get old!

I recently did the same thing and had the same problem, only that I had LESS functionality that you did. Scotty helped me realize my bone-head mistake and it working just fine now.

Getting rid of that broken phone anyway? I'll buy it for cheap! :)

Wow. It felt longer than that. Time does seem to go by quicker with each passing year. I don't know how old folks keep track of it...

I"ll give ya $40 for your "brick"

Thanks for the offer, but like I said before, I'm sure I could fix it. But when I made this thread I was so frustrated I just gave up, couple that with my constant desire for the newest electronics and I said to hell with it, I'm getting a new one.

I'm going to fix it and probably hang on to it as a back-up (not sure how much longer my old DInc will hold up). I can be rough with phones...
