Just so everyone is clear on this, because I've been seeing it asked over and over again. The NEW PB00IMG.ZIP located below is supposed to be the official OTA coming out. I have it, and it great. So much better than the original 2.1 leak.

Installs just like the first 2.1 leak.

Same process. Mount to SD, Power phone down, Hold Volume Down + End until phone boots, and follow the prompts with the track ball.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE REMOVED THE "FIRST" 2.1 PB00IMG.ZIP FROM YOUR SD CARD BEFORE YOU COPY THE NEW ONE ONTO YOUR SD CARD!

And all (that I have seen so far) of the bugs have been fixed. ie. google sign in error after reboot, no more dialer lag, the phone is FAST, its pretty much everything you wanted the FIRST leak to be. So fear not, and UPDATE!!


Hope this clears up some of the questions I've been seeing...

You will be happy you did. I put it on the wifeys phone also and now we can answer our calls in 2 rings, with no lag whatsoever. Cell signal strength is better, and everything is working as it should. I'm really impressed with the eris all over again. So, no worries!
 
If I do this, can I still get the 2.1 OTA when it comes out, or does putting this on the phone preclude me from the OTA?

If this is the same, EXACT version as the 2.1 OTA, then no. If not, then yes. If it is the exact release as the 2.1 OTA then why would it matter?
 
I understand your point, I am just curious if I will be able to get the OTA when it comes across, or any other update thereafter...also, this download did not pass through my security scan. Found three trojans and a keylogger.
 
thats the same question i was wondering about the official ota when it comes out... will i still be able to get the official ota ?????
 
Like alprazolam said above, if this IS the OTA version and you manually install why would you want to receive the exact same build OTA, you would gain nothing?

In theory, if the build version has been increased due to new defect resolutions and patches for various things you will get an OTA update that overwrites or patches this new 2.1 version when available.

Just do it, man. All the cool kids are doing it... :D

Besides, if this fixes that dialer lag, hurrah! There is a new screen that pops up when you make a call now...different from the previous 2.1.
 
but but but, what if the devs root this one? what if they change something but dont change the rev and OTA it and we miss something....

I'm just messin' with ya. It's probably smarter to wait & see...especially when new bugs start popping up. I'll let you know how the dialer goes. I'm gonna stick with Sense for now.

But the temptation...oh, the temptation......... :rolleyes:
 
I might give it a shot just for fun, but mine is running fine right now and I really don't feel like setting it up again...hopefully this means its gonna get pushed soon
 
Wow Just installed no lag at all. Plus have the 16gb Class 10 Card this ROM is Bad A$$. Sorry Palm back to the Android for awhile until The Incredible Drops.
 
For those of us that have already installed the first 2.1 leak, will installing this "new leak" wipe out all of our installed apps & settings? Don't know if I want to re-install everything, again.

Yes it will wipe but by the time you reload you will be in love with the Phone again. Make sure you back up with astro. make sure you google account is sync.
 
i would use appbrain to backup your apps. when you go back into appbrain it makes you re-download from the market so you will get your updates.

That is the only thing that makes me hesitant to flash this. What are the dangers?

I did the first 2.1 leak and have the normal bugs but also my gmail more often hasn't made me re sign in. Not sure why but it just hasn't.
