Even if CTIA comes and goes with no Incredible debut, I am still hopeful for some unofficial leaks. From MWC, we got a video leak. LV is full of tech people and alcohol, the odds are in our favor that we will hear/see something new.

only problem is if nothing drops at CTIA I doubt it will be released even in May. The phone is either not coming or it's planned for later in the year such as Sept-Dec as suggested in the past.

First time poster, so please be kind if I make any wrong assumptions in asking this question: in comparing the Incredible and the Evo, why do some people knock the Sprint network so badly?

My understanding is that with respect to voice -

* Sprint and Verizon use the exact same technology and frequencies
* Sprint subscribers automatically roam to Verizon towers if a Sprint tower is not available (at no add'l cost)
* In other words, if you can make/receive a call on Verizon, you can make/receive a call on Sprint

My understanding is that with respect to data -

* If you're in a Wimax 4G city on Sprint, you get Wimax 4G
* If you're not in a Wimax 4G city, you get Sprint 3G
* If you can't get either Sprint 4G or 3G, you degrade to Sprint 1x
* If you can't get any Sprint data, you degrade to Verizon 1x (at no add'l cost)

For purposes of comparing which of these devices might be best for me, can people tell me if I have these facts correct or not?

I believe you are mostly correct. I have a lake house in Northern Idaho that has no Sprint coverage for my Sprint phone, so I get no 3g, but I can make calls just fine. however, I have been unable to even get 1x data, but my verizon friends are doing 3g right next to me. I can send texts though.

My plan was to get the Inc this year and solve all my problems, but now I may just go with the Sprint beast for my use throughout the year and get a verizon MiFi for my data at the lake house, or whenever I am not in a Sprint 3g/4g area. Best of both worlds? All I have to do is get my data via a wifi link to the Verizon MiFi and I am 100% covered. Heck, I could even do Voip via that connection, if the 1x voice part was crappy.

Where the hell is Anonimac???

"And I can feel it comin' in the air tonight, oh Lord I've been waitin' for this moment, all my life, oh Lord .." (I hope anyways)

Seriously though, he said he was going to try to track some people down and see if he could find out what happened yesterday.

Even if it's coming in a few weeks, that doesn't mean it HAS to be announced at CTIA. Look at VZW's track record re equipment.

Kyler posted yesterday that there may be no announcement at CTIA, we might get some scattered crumbs of info over the next few weeks, and then some press-release out of the blue that announces the device, and that it is available a few days later. Given VZW's appearant SOP, this may very well be right on.

Based upon what we know from the testers, this phone is pretty much final. The phone has also passed FCC. Given that LTE is rolling out this year, and we will likely see LTE devices next year, why would VZW wait until the end of 2010 to push this phone out?

Admit it guys. This has been one big failure; a sad, pathetic waste of time.

Hopefully the Nexus One comes sooner than later. I am really tired of this Dare and chasing this ghost, the "Incredible"

Can't remember what site....I think it's Engadget...that shows the EVO next to the iPhone and the N1. The size difference is negligible...the only thing that is really larger is the screen. And we are talking...what... .6mm on the diagonal? IMHO this wouldn't really take up that much extra real estate. And...as another poster said...Sprint is bleeding customers. I've been satisfied...but am tempted due to family on Verizon. With that said, having 4G and a larger screen with this much processing speed is very enticing. I just don't know if I can wait until Summer...or if the wife will let me. I know an Incredible showing up much sooner will make it difficult. Anyway...my two cents...fwiw.

it's .6in and that's a lotta real estate on a phone, ie Eris-Nexus one screen difference is .5" i believe.

Speak for yourself. I found out a lot of good info on a phone I am still going to get. Plus, I've met some very cool people in the process. If your scope of being social is that limited and tied to a phones release date ... well that my friend is the failure. Rant over. Move along.

You must be used to that being a Mets fan. Sorry man couldn't resist :)

Edit: Damn. Montana Man. Quick on the draw :D

You know what's going to be sweet? All the people jumping ship for the HTC EVO. While the rest of us steady and faithful hang out with our Incredibles, they'll be waiting until summer to get a phone with equal specs!

Steady and slow wins the race.

Yes, But DROIDAV8R, and KScobie; Take into account that they're(HTC) also under allegations of Patent Infringement. Who know how long that will take for them to get legitimately cleared up. It's worthy of speculation, but perhaps that's why the EVO is going to be released later rather than sooner.:(

I'm pretty sure that the EVO was always intended to be released in the summer. I don't think it was pushed back.

think of it this way, you are all detectives working a murder case you get a lead bring the guy in for questioning but cant pin him on anything, its like that except for not as serious with a phone

With HTC fighting the lawsuit, and no injunction issued, I doubt very much the litigation is a factor. It will take years to resolve. If you are right, which I don't think you are, we will be waiting for a long, long time.

I think that the EVO being a few months behind the Incredible in development is the reason for the difference in timing. The incredible is pretty much done and through the FCC. Sprint said yesterday that the EVO is not, and the EVO has also not been FCC certified yet.

I honestly don't think this will affect HTC from releasing products anytime soon they are still going to release the Desire and Legend at the end of this month/beginning of April in the UK.

Coming from a Mets fan, you should be used to it.

This is so off topic but too good to not post:

A bunch of my friends are Mets fans so...

For Halloween this year I borrowed their gear (hat, jersey, etc) and then I wore a Hangman's noose around my neck with a sign "First Aid for Choking" on my front, and "Step-by-Step Directions to Perform the Heimlich Maneuver" on my back.

Got some great reactions.

Good analogy. Verizon is pleading the Fifth, but the evidence proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Big Red is guilty of possession with intent to distribute!:D
