Help No option to change Input Method?

wifey picked up the Inc4g and first thing she wanted me to do was put Smart Keyboard. I installed it, went and switched it to ON

but when i long press in a text area, im not seeing the option to "Change Input Method"

So how do i make use of the new keyboard?

Don't long press, just select the text box (while in a text message) and you should see the option

select the text box, then pull down the pulldown menu and there is the option to change notification

I was just trying to follow that while I was trying to log into this site. I don't think you meant that the keyboard can only be changed while in the texting program. I'm not altogether sure if the OP understood you, having mentioned Notifications. I got a Notification from the dev when I installed a keyboard just now, but not from Settings when I flip the switch there to enable it. I haven't seen any menus popping up, up while selecting an input box - I would appreciate a little more detail if you can - thanks!

Yea not sure me and OP are talking for about the same thing. Though I think the keyboard setting pops up in notifications on ICS (i see it on my girls SG3). Look for a keyboard icon in notifications when typing.

My other statement was a complete guess though. I'm still on GB with my rezound, older version of sense also. I would think changing the input method is somewhat similar (i hope so at least)

I just switched over Smart Keyboard (just to see if I could do the switch, not recommending it over ICS keyboard at this point). You're right, and somehow I missed it the first time. You have to pull down the Notifications shade, and it's under Ongoing. Hardly more convenient than the long-press! ICS is growing on me for the bugs which it fixed, but when I said that it's s***-flavored, here's an example of what I meant.

I love it, have used it on all of my android phones. You can select the Skin you want so it will look like a Nexus, iPhone, Droid, etc

Also you can customize the size and placement of buttons. in your case, maybe make the space bar a bit wider, or just remove the . from the main kb

Others I have used. Swiftkey and Go keyboard. I like Slideit but it's expensive. Fortunately I bought it a long time ago when gas was only $3 a gallon!
