"we need to prove your human"

I just did a google voice search for the weeks weather and google asked me to fill in a captcha to prove I'm human. Now almost every search is asking me for a captcha. Google claims I violated there tos. Anyone ever get this and know how to fix it?

"Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network". That's all I got, but I'm not even connected to wifi. Ill try and get a screen capture up soon.

Honestly, it sounds like you have a virus that is running a large number of searches...

Have you down loaded any suspect software? (i.e. sideloaded "free" versions of pay software etc?)

I've only had the phone about 5 days, non rooted and all my apps have been downloaded from the appstore. Nothing out of the ordinary. Before the error, I had my phone on standby for the previous three hours.

Change your Google account password.

I would suggest going a step further and select "two step verification". With a Nexus, having the Google Authentication app isn't a problem. It is a bit more work to set some things up (such as Android on a phone, as you need a temp password since it won't use the verification) but it makes the account much more secure.

I got that message in the past from my comp... it was because I was doing some 'leet' google searches - you know, all the advanced non-sense... But usually after a minute it was fine. And, of course, I stopped dorking around with google. ;)

Is this over the GSM/CDMA network or over wifi?

At the time, I was using my gsm (t-mobile) network. I barely use wifi at home.

Hmm... my thought was that maybe if you were on wifi, a PC connected could be doing all the google searches. They'd all use the same outbound IP address to google, so you'd all (likely) get lumped into the "Robot" category.

Odd. Is this issue still happening?

If I were using wifi id agree with you. But I'm not. Even today going to yelp.com says my ip is forbidden. And I was using network service not wifi.

Both of those replies are valid. However, changing the password on a phone that's possibly infected does no good at all. If they're unrooted, they should perform a factory reset first and then change the password, and add a two step verification if needed. ;)

Edit: My reply was more for Zetroc. Just added Mogelijks response as an extra.
