Radio Interface Resource Shortage FIX

You gonna bring a MAC-10 to the store wit' you?
hehe :D

Wife and I are getting a slew of 64's today. ##CLEAR# didn't fix it. In fact, the error popped up during the [re]activation!

I'm on hold with tech support. I'm thinking this will facilitate my decision as well. This hold music is almost enough to make me return these now...what IS this garbage!?

Edit: Oy. They need me to call from another phone to do that voodoo that they do and my wife isn't home. :/

Use Google Voice, that's what I do. I always call them from my Voice number via Gmail on a PC and then they can also return calls to me where it gets forwarded to my phone and my Gmail so I can answer no matter where I am and most importantly save those minutes! By forcefully I really meant that I'm going to try to demand my last two months of service for a refund cause the phone is basically nonfunctional in it's current state.

UPDATE: HTC has escalated my email support. We'll see what they do next. This is getting hilarious.

ALSO: what ROMs are you guys using? i actually get way better luck with my signal not crashing to -120 with using something without radio tweaks like JMZ or stock. I get constant problems on the other ROMs with WiFi. With Harmonia, I instantly went to the radio frozen state on first boot! Those radio tweaks may actually be very harmful to people who live in a low signal environment and whoever is prone to getting this error. I'll do some more testing, but it's an interesting find.

As I said earlier, wife and I got a slew of Error 64s today; she's using JMZ, I'm using ZR3DX. I normally have all six signal bars where I got the errors.

I did get in touch with VM tech support and the guy said some 'network settings were disabled' in the account setup. After he made his changes, he had me update profile, power off, remove battery, power on. We'll see if that makes a difference. (I'm hopeful but not optimistic.)

If you dial 611 from your mobile phone instead of the 800 number it won't use your minutes, I had the error for the first week that I owned the phone, since I s-offed and romed the phone I haven't experienced the issue in over a month. Might just be a coincidence though. I do still have the signal fluctuations but it doesn't seem to have a negative impact on actually being able to use the phone.

I have major issues with the signal since I live in a very low signal area with all custom ROMs it seems except for ones that don't have any RIL tweaks. They seem to be highly detrimental and make this issue a lot worse. Now my bugs are few and far between and things are a lot more stable on JMZ.

Funny - I had the symptoms, but no error messages (other than being unable to send texts) with custom ROMs and S-Off . So, the problem isn't gone, it's just masked.

I flashed the RUU last night, probably going down today to return it. I simply can't handle this anymore.

So, after trying the VirginAngels for weeks, Virgin E-mail support for weeks, and calling once to the Virgin customer support line I was finally at my wits ends regarding this Radio Interface Resource Shortage thing. It got so bad that I was not even able to receive phone calls and seeing how my voicemail has also not worked from day 1 with this phone I didnt even know when people were trying to get a hold of me via call or text.

I was so fed up that I called Virgin again yesterday (my problem had previously been escalated) and reached a technician pretty quickly (only about 20 minutes of waiting, which is short for them!). I explained my issues and she told me to turn off my phone so that she could re-provision and look into my problems. I waited for about 3 minutes on hold and when she came back on she informed me that I had restrictions on my phone that should have been removed when I switched from the MT to the EVO. She had me then do a Profile and PRL update (the same thing i've done a hundred times when I get the RIRS issue) and made sure I could text and call successfully. After she did this my voicemail immediately began working as well.

Although I am still skeptical about this "fix", so far so good. I haven't received any RIRS notifications since calling and she has "insured" me that "i will not be receiving this error again" .... Honestly, I just think it is a matter of time until I get it again but im knocking on wood!

Best of luck there - my phone was on a brand-new account, not one that had a phone on it previously... so, i have to question the fix.

I'm not sure if you guys are still looking for an asnwer to this but I bought the HTC One V after I got fed up of the Radio error on my Evo v. I have not had a single issue with it. I have noticed the signal fluctuation but it does not affect calling, texting, or data. I would defintely recommend it if you are looking for alternatives.

After some research, T-Mobile's 2G EDGE will give you about 100-200 kbps down. Better not go over, lol.
I'm getting worse than that now on VM.

Let us know if the errors are gone still.

The engineering department still hasn't called me back. I have not had the error again yet since later yesterday. Although I know for a fact I did receive a delayed text or two (10 minutes late), though the rest were on time.

Now my internet speeds are an issue, but I'll create a different thread for that.

About the internet...I remember reading a post on another forum that said something like "Welcome to Sprint, where 4G is 3G and 3G is 2G." That's about as accurate as it gets, so, welcome to Sprint. Especially in metropolitan areas, your 3G will be almost completely unusable.

I'd still love to know if there are people out there who aren't having the Radio Interface errors with their Evo V's, because if so, I will keep exchanging Evo V's until i get a good one.

I had the problems a couple of times during the first week of ownership, but not since then. Granted, I don't text a lot usually. But the other weekend when I was at a convention and did need to text quite a bit, I had no problems.

For some reason I can't get the 4g antenna to stay off. But that's not too annoying.

No, it's 50kbps: Support: Data speed reduction

Of course they'll call it "2G speeds" rather than "dial-up modem speed".

This makes their plans useless to me.

I dont know if that support chick is mistaken, or what, but I just turned on the 2g only option and got this:

Granted, that's not the greatest speed but it's usable and actually close to the speed I got with boost/VM's 3g.

Wow that's really not bad. I'm curious is there a way to set the phone to use only 3G instead of HSPA+ in addition to this toggle to EDGE?

They aren't putting you on 2G; they are throttling you at "2G speeds"--a vague ambiguity by marketing to avoid revealing how much they choke you: 50kbps.

you cant set the phone to use 3g its only 2g or 4g.even if you could it wouldnt matter they count any non wifi data for the 5gb limit.so even if you toggle down to 2g they still count it as part of the 5gb limit.
