A problem I had with old 2.1 is that dolphin and stock browser refuse to let me view non mobile versions of facebook and twitter. It's to really annoying :(

And now haptic keeps turning itself on and off. And this is strange.. I can't go right with anything using the trackball. Text field or browser. Worked great before. Anyone else?
 
ok I just tried installing the new update held volume plus and end call. My Eris now has a exclamation point in a triangle, next to a droidguy. It hasn't done anything in about 10 minutes, is this the update does it normally take this long?

Have you tried lite.facebook.com? Also, there's supposed to be a link at the bottom of the mobile site to switch to the full site. You can't set it as the default, though. Personally, I bookmarked lite.facebook.com and touch.facebook.com, because I like those better than the mobile site (m.facebook.com).
 
Has anyone checked if you can flash back to the first 2.1 leak after flashing to the new 2.1 leak? I noticed that the HBOOT image is identical, so I thought maybe it would be possible. Don't know why anyone would want to, but it would be good to know.

Everything redirects to touch facebook. Full link at the bottom just refreshes touch. Full directs to mobile which directs to touch. I Really don't like touch but it's better than shitty facebook for android. I'll see what happens when i try lite.

You actually need to hit Vol - (Volume Down)

Just pull the battery and replace it. Then when you boot hold End + Vol -
That will send you into hboot and its pretty auto-magic from there. When it ask you to confirm things, click the trackball.
 
the reason for the different bars is that the reception is measuring a different signal.
When on a call 3g is turned off to save battery, so the bars are measuring the normal call reception, before and after that (the 2 bars almost everyone experiences) is measuring 3g... tho its pretty well confirmed that the bars aren't correctly showing the reception... (search the "2.1 leak bugs and glitches" thread to see more about that... I don't quite understand all the fancy decibel talk!)

I've used both leaks and this is definitely more stable.. but there's still some kinks to work out. But well worth the time to upgrade from 1.5 if you're even still considering!
 
ok call me an idiot or what ever but I cannot get my phone to reconize this file. I hold down the call and the end button, get it to go to hboot, but I just says invalid or wrong image on all them. Is there's something I'm suppose to do the folder, or to the files? Help

Idiot. JK! Hold down the red end call button and the volume down button on the left side of the phone and see if that works for ya.
 
yeah tried that. It just does that whole searching for images thing it does, and then after each one it looks for it says, no image (or what ever the error is). It then goes back to the screen and says Hboot highlighted in blue. it has press send for fastboot or volume down for recover. That's all it does.
 
awesome. Now default touch input is crashing. And when I try to type something into the pe ep widget sense crashes. Omg I had no problem with the last leak and now I get all this!

If my track ball is ****ed I'll see about getting my phone replaced and stick to 1.5

I don't see why not, and even if we don't receive the OTA update, it's apparent we can just flash it onto our phones like we have with these two leaks. So I'm not worried at all about not getting the official 2.1.
 
Take it off the card, download it again from a different site, then try it again. You didn't try to open the .zip file did you? If you did, don't do it again.
 
I keep getting a force close for "com.htc.bg". Has anyone else gotten this error? Any ideas on how to fix it? Do I need to re-flash it? I downloaded it from OTD's link.
 
my phone keeps rebooting, i cant change the lock screen image, it actually seems slower...im going to see if i can go back to the first leak (or root or 1.5...i gotta try!), then lastly this leak again. sucks! :(
 
do I need to download this to my phone. I downloaded 3 different links (except mega) and move them to the sd card. I have not opened anyone of them.

When I did mine today I just put it in the root folder, held down the volume down and the red end call buttons and that was it. It loaded up the HBOOT screen, asked me if I wanted to upgrade, hit the trackball, and it went. When it was done, it asked me if I wanted to reboot. Hit the trackball again and it restarted. Worked perfectly and only took about 8 minutes total.
 
i've had few f/c with messageing..also signal stays at 1 bar..like if i was standing on top of freakin cell tower it wouldnt budge..but so worth going from 1.5..:o

Husband was on the computer, so I did it from the phone last night and used the one first posted from Megaupload. I've got the dolphin browser with pop up pages turned off. It worked just fine for me, just had to use Astro to move the file from the downloads file to the root file.

Loving it do far, slowly reinstalling apps during the day and haven't had any problems so far.
 
God all these people are ******ed, simple damn instructions. calm down and think about what people are telling you for christ sake..
Step 1: stop being a ****** and pay attention
Step 2: download the file from megaupload or wherever (I got mine from Mega)
Step 3: mount your phone to the computer and turn on SDCARD storage and select open folder to view sdcard files once AUTOPLAY pops up on computer
Step 4: drag the downloaded file from computer to the sdcard (NOT A FOLDER JUST THE ROOT OF SDCARD)
Step 5: once its transferred, unmount your phone properly and turn your eris off
Step 6: hold down POWER and VOLUME DOWN simultanously (at the same time) < for all you "special" people
Step 7: let hboot load up and it should automatically check the .img file and should say something like "checking file, wrong image" or something and in top right corner of your screen (PHONE) there should be a little status bar loading thats red or blue, do not pull battery or press any buttons, just let it load
Step 8: click trackball when its done loading update and asks do you want to update
Step 9: enjoy 2.1 L2..
pretty damn simple and takes 10 minutes tops, ..
