may be something, could be nothing...

screen shot in one of the links associated with those tweets. can't confirm, of course, if it is actually from the Incredible. He has posted step-by-step instructions in both cases, but that may apply for any Android powered device.

I was just in an on-line chat with a CSR and this is the best they could offer me when I asked about the new HTC phone......devour and LG Cosmos......not even the droid this time....Plus I had to tell the lady that the devour was on their website.....she said she never heard of the devour and I said well then VZW must not train you guys because here it is on ur website....this woman had nerves of steel. No slips here!

what are the little bits he gave you?

His phone had the Red Back....around 500 ram, and the processor was clocked at 750ish. Said the Amoled screen was not as bright as he thought it would be, and that the batt needed to be bumped up a notch to handle normal use. More than that, having only a couple of days to fondle it, he said he liked it better than the N1, (which he also tested and still owns)) and to expect something on the 27th. That is really all I have.

Well, I finally got the rom unzipped and started to pull it apart in a little more detail. It's definitely for the Incredible. From the decompressed kernel:

incrediblec_tv_video_relay
bcm4329
(plus a lot of other goo), but an interesting bit is this:
tvenc_detect_work_func
tvenc_wait_vsync
tvenc_enable_amplifier
tvenc_detect_isr
tvenc_on
mt20xx.radio_antenna
mt20xx.tv_antenna
mt20xx.optimize_vco
mt20xx.debug
tda8290_probe
tda8295_probe
...which implies Video4Linux2 stuff (FM radio, perhaps?)

From the kernel ramdisk, we have the NAND (Micron's eMMC: # eMMC related export PHONE_STORAGE /emmc), an interesting service: service netsharing_on /system/bin/netsharing net on.

Now I need to work on the disk images...see if there's anything juicy there.

Here's some info on the chip for the wi-fi , bluetooth, and fm Broadcom.com - BCM4329 - Low-Power 802.11n with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and FM (Tx and Rx)

So 802.11 n w00t :) If I recall the Nexus has this too.

and he had the final revision right?

So it's not going to be better than the HTC evo?

I would be surprised if this was a final version. I doubt they would change the back from soft touch black back to red and drop the processor speed back down after bumping it up to the full 1 gig. but I could definitely be wrong.

Thank him for the info. As much as I know we all want more details, nobody needs to risk their job over keeping this forum happy.

I will do that. I will also call my brother again tomorrow and have him try to get a little more info if he can. Until then....and it has been a blast....I'm out like an 8-Track Tape!!!
