Basically a worthless app except for international and Skype to Skype calls.
So it works exactly as they advertised it. They never advertised Skype for local calling.

You said the Droid not the N1. I could see the N1 as a compromise. If that drops I would get it (depending on if I can use my NE2, keep my family plan, exchange it if Inc comes out in 30 days etc). Droid to me is not as great as it once was (rightfully so) so I don't see my self getting that.
If you decide to pull the trigger good luck and I hope the Inc comes out in time home skillet.
You would think they would have it work with WiFi as well to keep the data usage down but of course this could also be their way of boosting data usage up to justify raising prices and tiering it in the future.![]()
Yes, but in your mind, and from your experience, what does that indicate to YOU as an ETA date?
Well Everyone,
As of 11 am today, I'm leaving work early and starting my Vacation. I'm throwing the wife and my kids (5 of them) into the RV (no redneck jokes, we have a nice one), and heading down to Disney World for 2 whole weeks. I've decided no laptop, no computer, maybe a tweet or 2, but I need rehab from this place.
No offense to anyone because you guys have been fun to keep up with, but I'm done with the emotional rollercoasters and ready to ride some real ones. Maybe even stop for a drink at The Buck Wild on the way down.
I wish Everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday!!
I will miss you!
Diesel
P.S. When I come back to the forum on April 8th, after page 600+ and 30,000+ posts, I'll make sure i ask...
"What'd I miss...Anything New?"![]()
What did you expect it to use?
no fees it you RETURN it and wait 4 days to purchase something else. you cannot EXCHANGE it...you'll get whacked $35.
as long as you return it and sit tight for a few days (with yer old phone) you can walk in and buy something else.
this policy is being seriously looked at (and might go away in the future) according to verizon sales people and a manager i've been dealing with.
Or it could just be something that was overlooked and will be fixed later.
$35 bucks but keep in mind if the Inc isn't released in 30 days your a$$ out homie.
Sorry I didn't explain better. That article is an analysis of the AMOLED screen in the N1 presumably very similar if not the same screen in the Incredible. Basically, it says that the display of font and some images is worse than the Droid.
lmao..... I'm thinking I may do the exact same as you have in mind. I want a test run with the Android OS.
Is there a time frame associated with just taking the phone back and going back to your old phone? I've heard the some people have done this and did not have to pay the $35.00, plus theykept their NE2 that way?
April fools aside, the 1st kinda makes sense.
I noticed yesterday for the 1st time on TV VZW was advertising when the BOGO ends (31st). Isn't April 1st the beginning (or really close to the beginning) of Q2?
It's a technology limitation. GSM and UTMS will allow simultaneous voice and data. CDMA and EVDO are mutually exclusive. You use one or the other. T-mobile in the USA also allows simultaneous voice and data.
You can get an IP based phone/client for your Verizon or Sprint handset and use data and make an IP based call at the same time as your call is now data.
It should be noted that Sprints new EVO phone will allow simultaneous voice and data in 4G areas. The WiMax can provide data at the same time as CDMA provides voice. If you surf via WiFi(802.11). You can place normal voice calls on any of the networks.
Or you could use this article as a reference that discusses that the Droid finished last of several devices (Motorola DROID, BlackBerry Storm2, Google Nexus One, Palm Pre and HTC Droid Eris) when matched head to head in a touchscreen analysis.

Can you do this multiple times or is it subject to the only 1 exchange policy?
For instance could you purchase a droid Feb 1. Retun it Feb 28, then purchase an eris on March 5 then return it March 30, and still be able to purchase the Incredible on April 5th?
Funny story. I did just this. I bought the Droid for $300 on my NE2, and sent in the SKU and everything for the $100 rebate. I received the rebate card in the mail and then decided to return my Droid. Is there a time frame associated with just taking the phone back and going back to your old phone? No stocking fee if you return your phone in 30 days and go back to your old one. I think (as in not sure) only if you are exchanging phones does they charge the restock.
So would the Skype app allow you to talk and surf? In effect, bypass the limitations?

I went to Verizon and they refunded me the full $300, so I actually profited $100 in the end. And I got to keep my NE2. Not bad...
