Root {GUIDE x2} Update to ZVD/Root ZVD

One thing to keep in mind-if you flash any ROM,Kernel, it will overwrite the fix for the power cycling(random re-boot) problem in previous SW versions.
Until all ROM & Kernels are built from ZVD source there will be problems:mad:

I'm glad I read this before I continued. I'm actually at a point where I am stuck. I updated my phone to D and rooted it but I am unable to flash a rom to it because Quick Boot just puts me in a boot loop and I can't seem to get into recovery mode by holding buttons down. But I guess this is a blessing because according to the quote above, flashing a rom to my phone will cause my reboot problems to happen again. So I ask:

1) Is there a ROM out there that decrapifies my phone taking out all the garbage and speeds it up but will keep my phone reboot free?

2) Is there a fix to my recovery mode issues?

3) If I have to decrapify my phone manually, is there a guide to a process to do so that includes and goes beyond just deleting unwanted programs?

Thanks in advance.

Flash this in recovery(install zip from sd) you will have to pull your sd card from the phone then put this zip file on your sd .
Put battery back in-hold volume +/- together while holding the power button. When the LG screen appears press the power button 3 times.
Did you make a backup prior to the bootloop:confused:

yes i made a backup im gonna put this exitrecovery.zip on my card

 If you can get into CWM using the volume rockers and power- the other option that may come.up is to factory reset(not in recovery). Go ahead and do that as you made a backup. When the phone boots up it.will boot.into CWM
Then just restore your backup:)

I'm about to update and root my phone with this because I have been having random rebooting issues a lot. After my horrible optimus problems I'm getting extremely annoyed with it. Before I do it I want to ask if I really have to do a factory reset before rooting it. I don't want to lose all my stuff and have to start from scratch.

It is best to give the phone a "fresh start" so to speak but the option is yours. Could back up everything to your CPU also.
There is always a way to go back to ZVB then back to ZVD if you run into problems the choice IS yours:)
Welcome to AF BTW:hello:

I just did a backup of all my apps & settings with Titanium. Could I get them back somehow from that if I do a factory reset?

And thank you for the welcome! I've been coming here for almost a year when I got my first android (the optimus). Been the biggest help. I'll be on here again once I get my first tablet in a week or so.

You can get them back if you root the phone, install titanium backup, and restore the backup you made of your apps :3

I'm a thug cause I give hugs because you can't spell thug without a hug.

Your welcome:o
Sure TB would be perfect(I use it also)! Pull your SD during the update just to be safe and then do the factory reset then power off the phone-SD back and and restore from TB:cool:
Huge tablet section in here for sure in case you didn't see it:thrasher:

Make sure the drivers are installed/the phone is in internet connection connection mode

can you run 'adb devices' do you get your device? if not, un plug your device, re-install drivers to your comp, make sure debbugging is enabled on your device then plug it in & make sure it on 'internet connection' mode, wait a good minute or two before doing anything for the device to install itself lol than try to run your cmd's :D

Im going from ZVB to ZVD. I want to know if it is ok to do this from a custume ROM (GSE) Or do I NEED to have the stock ROM? (Because I don't have a backup to that).

You'll be alright doing it from that point:thumbup:
After the update is done its a good idea to wipe date/factory reset from the phone but up to you(a fresh start you know)
;) Going back to ZVB IS always an option if you want to :)

Awesome, thanks for the response! Now to get to it!

EDIT: Thanks for this wonderful setup! I got it working perfectly. And it was very easy :p

This is the one I think you are referring to http://androidforums.com/esteem-all-things-root/470485-cwm-root-rzr-root-recovery-aio.html

It is in here http://androidforums.com/esteem-all...esteem-all-things-root-guide.html#post3617400

Some have had it work-some have not.

and back up to ZVD is the quickest-easiest way to unroot and remove recovery but up to you.:)

Does this still work? I had to get a new phone again because my old Esteem was stolen. Ive done this before, just checking back in to see if it still works :D
