RootBOX ICS AOKP 4.0.4 SGS3 Themed

did you full wipe (inc format system) and fix permissions ??

milestone 6 has seen huge changes, just dalvik and cache didnt work for me and ive been on rootbox since day 1

Ok, did not follow it 100% to the point :P I could not find option to do full wipe in CWM so I jumped that. And do you meen fix permissions in CWM? Is it to late to fix permissions now?

Full wipe is

reboot into CWM
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
now go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache
then into mounts and storage, format system
now install your rom, kernel and modem
after installed go back into advanced and fix permissions
reboot your phone

HTH

Anyone having issues turning off the backlight keys? When I go into the settings to turn them off, they do turn off. But when the screen times out or when I reboot, the damn keys are lit again!??! I have done several reboots and wiped my caches, but so far to no avail.

BTW the backlight keys are disabled in the settings menu and also it is disabled in extweaks. Not sure how to fix this, but I would appreciate some help if anyone has any ideas.

Other than that it seems to be a nice and smooth rom, and I really like the aroma installer that is used. I had seen it before when I was using a Dragon rom, and it is really a nice way to go.

This backlighting key issue is driving me nuts!! I have only had this one on for a few hours and so far I like it. But if I can't get this issue figured out, I will have to just move on to another rom.

Hopefully someone can give me some insight here as I really wanted to see if RootBox is a rom that could get me to stay on AOKP...

Just checking to be sure, since you said "BTW the backlight keys are disabled in the settings menu". Have you gone to "Device options" - "Sensors" and disabled under "Touch Key"?

Yes, you are correct.

Settings/Device options/Sensors/Enable key backlight is unchecked.

As I said before I wiped my caches and fixed my permissions. I went so far as doing a full wipe install, for the second time, and they are still coming on. I am now wondering does this rom just acting up on my phone, or is this a glitch in the rom itself?

"Tried flashing again and using siyah, this round... same problem. Backlight still shows up. Am starting to hate the backlight by now.....

Well, what do you know, works fine with the included CM9 kernel. Kernel issues.. God Damn."

Back on RootBOX now, couldn't resist the update "kitchen"! :D

1.7 is running great, it's quick and smooth, everything works as it should with no FCs up to now and battery performance seems to have improved yet again.

My faith in AOKP has been restored with RB 1.6 and 1.7, this is a cracking rom with LOADS of tweaking options.

Anyone able to shed any light on the two files (rild and libsec-ril.so) in the "HSPA+ Support" section of "RootBOX Update" in the phone's settings menu? What do these files do and is it worth downloading and installing them?

thats for the HSPA (High Speed Packet Access)

AOKP by default does not support H+, those patches give us access to it

i actually get a 4G icon when downloading with that patch which is pretty cool.

dont forget to set permissions

Probably a stupid question but is it possible to run this as a second rom, I'm currently on Neat Lite LPI... Just curious about the kitchen.

yes it is, currently

CM10 preview JB as 1st rom (so i can flash as needed)
RootBox ICS v 1.7 as my daily on 2nd rom

on the latest Siyah kernel

Would you recommend me having neat as my first rom and then flashing rb as my second? Or do I have to format and do it other way around? Neat will more than likely be my daily driver

i moved RB to my second as its stable as hell and i cant really **** anything up by mistake, for me to flash anything on it i have to go to 2nd rom and even im not stupid enough to do that :)

Having CM10 as my primary is just down to sheer convenience and nandroids take a lot less time

my recommendation is your daily driver as 2nd rom, maybe some wont agree, but it works for me

That's very interesting. Thanks mate! Sorry to sound dense, but where do I set permissions?

i use root explorer although im sure there are other file manager programmes that do it aswell

Navigate to system/bin/rild long press and youll see permissions, set as 755 as above

then system/lib/libsec-ril.so, long press and set permission to 644

and if all that wasnt enough RootBox JellyBean has landed

Re: the JB version.

If you don't recommend restoring apps with TB, what do you recommend backing up and restoring with

Thats the changelog from the dev not from me.

the problem with restoring apps on JellyBean is when you restore data aswell, some work fine, others cause FC and then bootloops.
I guess its up to you wether or not to restore like that ,

Ive restored only my paid for apps with data and i have had no problems, the rest of the stuff ive just redownloaded the apk`s from dropbox or playstore

Thanks dude. I presume the Y/N go in the 9 boxes in the permissions section?

Also, will I have to do this every time I change modem or is this a one-off thing, do you know?
