Stock Task Manager

Hi everyone,

I know task killers are unnecessary and actually bad for your phone, but how about the built in stock task manager? When you go into your stock task manager, is it okay to end active applications that you want to be closed? I mainly do this to clear active apps that im not using atm, and I was wondering if this was bad.

Also, I know its good to let android manage memory and cpu automatically, so would it be good to exit out of an application with the home button or back button? When I exit out of an application with the home button, I go to task manager later to close it out of the active applications list. Is this good or bad?

Thanks

Not a problem, as far as I know.
btw: easier way to close apps that are running in the background is long-press the home button -> remove all. Saves you a couple of clicks to reach the task manager.

so is using the task manager to end applications different from killing tasks with external task managers?

Although this doesnt always "kill" apps that are running in the background completely. This is just a recent apps list, compared to going into the actual app manager. But for some apps, it does clear the app from memory.

Thanks for your replies guys, so my main concern is, is using the stock task managers to close out of active apps safe? Or does it produce the same effects as closing programs through like an external task killer which I read was bad.

Yes it's safe. Why wouldn't it be? Just curious...

Speaking of home buttons, I kind of wish it was the same shape and location, but was capacitive. Still out of the way from accidental touching and also one less mechanical button to get stuck or mess up. Yes, I am being picky.

Added: Then again, a capacitive button might mean no wake function. I like having two buttons instead of reaching for the top all the time on the Razr. Net result I guess is nevermind.

using the back button to exit out of an application will probably end its process. home button, not likely. only kill apps in the task manager if you really have to.

Thanks for the tip. Did not know that. Still learning my way around the phone.

hm so does closing out of apps with home button (leaving the app in standby mode) eat away alot of the battery? So if you dont need it in standby, it is better to exit out of the app either with the back button or with the stock task manager right. Or does android manage apps well that even if the apps are in standby, it doesnt affect the battery. Thanks

in addition to this...in developer options you can set the phone to automatically kill EVERY app as you leave it so that it doesn't store any apps in memory
