people going off on the devor and this is vzw tweets back

@mickeymjay @jason_dockery @thehometownhero How about you check our the #Devour and give us your feedback. Do it now :-) 11 minutes ago via TweetDeck

I saw that too, not as encouraging as the "Stay right here, info coming very soon" or whatever it was yesterday.

And wtf are they thinking? The guys just said "I have no interest in the stupid devour give me a real phone" why would they go check it out?

They need to hire someone new to do their Tweeting.

Alright think about it for a second. What if the verizon nexus one IS different than the AT&T. Also, consider there are rumors (or news from google? not sure) that tre ill be a N2 with a keyboard eventually. Would it not make sense to change the url to phones?

I doubt the incredible is the verizon nexus one, just saying.

Does google.com/phones work right now? No. The pic was from an old story (old by internet standards, its been like a week). The fact the URL is circled should have given him a clue.

So here is what I think would be an amazing thing for MM to do..
While pretending to be a customer, and looking at phones, and trying them out, and testing their web capabilities......he could point the browser here...and post what he is hearing in real time...from verizon's own phones!! hehe...that'd be a good day.

MM, I apologize. I don't read all of the posts. I don't think I deserve the reaction I received. I didn't know anything about the hate mail. It really was a joke.

Yeah, it's cool. It was all a HUGE misunderstanding. You were going for a joke based on a reference from a video game and Montana didn't get it. He thought you were calling him a liar and he has been harassed so much this week. I can totally see what happened now. I think we can all move on now. I've never played Half Life. As a matter of fact, the only game I play is Metal Gear games and I'll be getting Red Dead Redemption when it comes out in May. haha So, sorry for the confusion and the misunderstanding.

We are all wound a little tight. Maybe next time insert a smiley - to show the intent to joke. It has been said before - sometimes text does not convey the intent of humor. No big deal - we can all just move on here ... nothing to see ...

He also didn't say where he was in the process hence the six weeks at worst.

I'm not saying that this is any sort of confirmation. Take it for what it's worth.

The Moose

I'd like to ask for the sake of those like me, who are lurking this thread for anything helpful, that the personal arguments please subsist. Somebody made a joke, it was interpreted incorrectly, and yelling ensued. All sides should just apologize for the confusion and move on.

Please.

EDIT: While I was typing this, somebody else said basically the same thing. I withdraw my comments for redundancy. : P

Guys,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Verizon's "unlimited" plan actually cap out at 5 gigabytes? I believe they charge a set amount per megabyte after that. So anything Verizon can do to push you over the precipice is going straight into their wallet. Obviously, if you're using Skype with WiFi then it won't be using up any of your data plan's usage.

GREAT suggestion. Smileys go a LONG way in text based conversation. I've learned that the hard way over the years. ;)

The 5 gig "cap" is only for tethering. So no.

You walked into a hornets nest man. It was like cracking a mom joke at a funeral to the guy who's mom just died and you had no idea (Ok maybe that's a little over dramatic  ).

You just were like the 193202834 guy to poke at him about it, and he blew up. Not personal.

So just forget about it and all will be forgiven (assuming you stop calling everyone Iphone fanboys ;)

That box is about the only lead we have right now so let's all hope MM comes up with something today implying announcement/release.

If you need to use Skype via WiFi, then get the regular Skype mobile app. Really, it's not that big of a deal.

I may be wrong on this but ... wasn't the original Skype mobile app pulled when this Skype/Verizon partnership was made? BTW, it isn't a big deal I'm just commenting on why I think Verizon and Skype left out WiFi. And yes there are other alternatives like Fring but that's not the point.

Verizon did a good thing by offering Skype ... they just did it half-assed with no WiFi.

The url does not work now, but the phone is not out now either. It very well could change when the verizon version comes. Just saying that the url does not prove it's wrong (not that I believe it).

Honestly, the WiFi thing doesn't bug me. But to each their own.

Why would it change when the Verizon one comes out since a) it hasn't changed when the AT&T version came out and B) the main page has verizon coming soon?

Yes, but it would make sense that an HTC rep might stop in to show off a phone that Google intends to sell for use on Verizon's network. Anyway, that's what I've been thinking.

I agree... one of the complaints we've consistently heard is that people won't buy a phone they can't put their hands on. Having an N1 in house would help to address that concern.

Of course, I'm hoping otherwise, but any advanced smartphone in Verizon's stores is a step forward.

Alright, getting off topic here so I will close with this, but I fail to see how I would have any different experience using Skype via wifi on a phone than I would using Skype via wifi on my laptap.
If you're on your computer at home using Skype over your high-speed connection then you have dedicated bandwith at your disposal. If you're on a public or shared Wi-Fi high-speed connection that bandwith is being parsed by others using the same service, making call clarity sketchy at best for both parties.

I have Vonage (VoIP) as my home phone service provider and I can tell you that if I'm downloading a huge file or watching streaming video on my laptop and my wife's on the phone having a conversation, the person on the other end has trouble hearing her because what I'm doing is tying up so much of our available bandwith. Well, the same applies to Skype over a shared or public Wi-Fi connection.

BTW droidrage, love the sabres/android combo you've got going there.

<--- from outside Buffalo and I'm rocking my "Miller 30 Sabres" Hat right now (old school logo of course)

NKT, the 5GB cap is ONLY when you tether? So, when you're just using your browser on your phone and downloading stuff, it's unlimited? I've always needed clarification on this.

What proves it wrong is the article that came out that STATED the specs were wrong and the new spec sheet was released that didn't include the s in the URL and didn't have Sense UI included.

I hate to harp, but there is a reason people tell the newer people to READ before posting. A lot of this stuff has been discredited in previous pages. And I know people will say "Well that is 300 pages of posts!" but the reason there are so many pages is because people don't read back and we have double and triple posts of the same info.

I will smiley this to prove I am not a crotchety man, just impatient with Verizon :D
