[Verizon] HELP! I am stuck at "Google" boot screen AGAIN

Quick question for you guys - I just did my first root/rom flash of Bugless Jelly Bean ROM. All was working fine, but I decided to shut my phone off to test the reboot and make sure all was good. On first reboot since install of custom ROM, I got stuck on the "Google" screen.

Anyway, I just pulled the battery and powered up again and the phone booted fine. Repeated the power-off/power-on cycle about 5 times to make sure the phone wasn't going to get stuck on this screen every time - phone booted fine every time.

Only question was is there any reason this first reboot since install froze my phone? Should I take any further steps, or is all fine with this ROM. Again, I'm running Bugless JB 7/24 build.
 
I went to turn my phone on again, and got stuck at Google logo boot screen. Pulled battery a few times, booted into recover, chose 'wipe cache', flashed ROM from zip again with no luck.

Pulled bat again and rebooted and got back onto Jelly Bean. My questions are:

1. What is causing this? I'm on Bugless 7/24
2. What is the proper method to 'wipe cache'?
3. Should I try a new ROM - if so, what is the MOST STOCK and stable version out there e.g. are people having more luck with Bugless 7/19, etc.? 4. 4. Are the ROM's we are flashing real CDMA builds from AOSP, or are we using some kind of tweaked GSM verison?
5. If I ever try to boot to nandroid ICS backup I made before the initial JB install, is there anything special I need to do before or do I just boot to recovery and select the backup file? (i.e. plug in phone to cpu, etc.)

I am def a noob when it comes to this, but want to learn the correct ways of doing this stuff. I def like the freedom of ROM flashing, so I don't want to ever go back to carrier sh*t ever again!

Any info is appreciated!!!:D

You know what, actually you may be right. I just turned off phone and then rebooted....was on "Google" logo screen for a good 3-4 minutes and the then boot animation fired.

Weird, because other times I have turned off/turned on, the same ROM loads fast, and other times it's slow. Is this normal?

It has been for the majority of us, yes.
 
It is said that if JB detects a problem when it boots, it does a filesystem test, like fsck with other Unix platforms.

First, If flashing an entire rom, you should wipe /cache, dalvik cache, do a factory reset, and wipe /system. Then flash. Use titanium backup to restore your apps and their data. You won't lose any sdcard contents doing this.

Secondly, I've seen where some people have had shorter boot times after flashing the JB bootloader. However, I'm still using the ICS bootloader and running JB roms, booting a newly installed rom in less then 5min no problems.

Third and final, The JB roms are built from aosp source code, just lacking the Verizon radios and proprietary crap. They are not GSM builds anymore because Google released JB source about a month ago. We Verizon users still don't have Verizon's release of JB because Verizon isn't finished putting their own personal touches on it. Even when vzw does release their crap, debate will remove a bunch of the actual "crap" before making roms.

How do I wiple the dalvik cache?
