[Verizon] [ROM][4.1.1][AOSP] Liquid Smooth - Jelly Bean 2.0 [Beta 2] (8/13/12)

Which file explorer do you guys use to move files within the phone? I'm using File Manager to try the street names fix but it won't let me move the file.

Can't move GoogleTTS from where it downloaded? Verify File system to be set from R/W to R/O..

Nah it's an issue I've had with File Manager for a little while now, so I'm looking into other alternatives.

Is there a way to backup/restore all the text messages? It would be nice to find a way to be able to restore them across roms, like a titanium backup.

There are a few SMS backup apps on the market that can do the job sufficiently. Titanium backup can do it as well, but because these roms customize the messaging apps, I wouldn't recommend restoring from one rom to another. Restoring through titanium when updating a rom should be fine, as I have done it before without issue.

There's an option to do that in Titanium. It's separate from all the batch options, but it's there. Should be a green option near the bottom of the app list in TiBu.

(This could be a pro feature only, I'm not sure)

Ok, so last night I did my first ever solo install. I went from CM9 to this new beta. I believe I did it right. Made a back up, wiped the data/davlik, etc. Installed the ROM from the sd first, rebooted, then installed the extras, rebooted again.

It's running amazing! Lightning fast and super smooth. I love the unlock animation, and the 5 point option for it.

But I'm experiencing two probs. One, my camera is not saving any pictures it takes, unless they're taken from third party like FB and what not. This was an issue on CM9 too, but I'd hoped it would've been cleared up in a JB app. The other is that when I imported my contact list back off the sd, it became an ungodly mess! Every contact is in there with double or triple entries, and there's several that are just bogus altogether.

Did I do something wrong? or is this a bug because it's still in beta? or I have no idea...

This is simply backing up the SMS/mms/phone storage. Which is your messages and call log. As I said before, this method will work, but there is a lot of risk in restoring this when going from one rom to another(ie. BuglessBeast to LiquidJB-beta). Even when simply updating to a newer version of a rom(ie. LiquidJB-alpha to LiquidJB-beta) there is inherent risk due to the fact that developers make changes to the SMS and phone apps that may be incompatible with older versions.

So I tried the Google street names fix (I dled root explorer lite) and now for some reason my GPS won't lock on. Weird...

Once I installed GoogleTTS into System/App I also had slow lock on at first. But after a couple uses its fine now. Like it would find my location at home but the directional turn by turn wouldn't commence until i started driving away from my home..

Edit: maybe clear the offline cache thats associated with maps/navigation

Alright so as much as I love me some Liquid, I just can't figure out how to get good battery life when not on WiFi on this beta. I was unplugged for a tad under 6 hours, only 30mins of screen on time, and I was down to 34%. What the poop? It seems like I have to be on WiFi to get good to decent battery life on this, but unfortunately I'm not always on WiFi, so time to move on. But I'm sure I'll be back when the official stable releases come out since Liquid has always ran well on my phone. Kudos Team Liquid! I'll be back =)

Sad to see ya go buddy. You'll be back ;)

I would be curious to see a comparison of batt life on your next rom, with a similar chain of events.

Good luck on your endeavors

Definitely will do. I've run Bugless Beast as my first JB rom, then BAMF, then Liquid, and now currently flashing XenonHD. I think I've had the best battery life on Bugless so far and most features on Liquid, so it's safe to say that the GNex developers are freakin amazing! lol

I'm having trouble backing up my ROM settings. Any ideas? Same issue whether I try to backup theme or settings (which I don't know the difference between..)

Also - when I booted my apps did not automatically download/install. The last several ROMs all did that fine. Am I missing something?

I'm having an issue with DSP Manager force closing that I can't resolve. Can I reflash the ROM without having to do a clean install? Does this just involve wiping the Dalvik cache before reflash?

Hmm, I think I may have heard about the camera bug but I haven't experienced it myself.
As for the contact storage thing, I've always had that problem with Android, it's not a Liquid bug. I think the problem is that when it restores contacts from your SD card, it doesn't check to see if those contacts had already been synced from Google, so you'll see both your auto-synced google contacts and the ones you restore from your SD card.

How safe is it to overclock to the max setting of 1344 cpu frequency ?

It varies from phone to phone, but 1344mhz is a relatively safe frequency. I occasionally clock it to there with no problem except obviously lower battery life. Some phones can go higher but personally I haven't felt the need to go past 1344.

I think you need to create a folder on your sdcard called LiquidSettings. It looks like it's looking for that folder but can't find it, so it's not makiing the backup. If that also fails, it's probably just a bug that will be fixed soon.

If you're going to reflash the ROM, I would wipe system, cache, and Dalvik cache. Be sure to have the ROM on your sdcard before you wipe system, though, because you won't be able to boot up again until you flash a new ROM. Hope that solves your problem. I've been able to use DSP manager with no issues ;)

I liked this ROM in the past, but I'm waiting to something more than an alpha or beta release is out to dive into this one. Need at least a semi-stable phone :D

Don't worry, it's totally rock-stable. The only reason it's a beta is because it's still missing some features from Liquid ICS and there are some bugs with the custom features. Don't be afraid :p

I've been using Liquid as a daily driver since the Alpha came out last thursday. I've had maybe 1 reboot in that span of time. Battery life was iffy with the alpha but since the beta came out I've been consistently getting 2-3 hours of screen time, which is about the best I've seen on the nexus (which is kind of sad, but what can you do lol)

Will I have to do a restore of all my apps after reflasing? Would like to avoid doing that again if I could!
